May 10, Saturday, 18.30:XNUMX p.m. Lukiškiai square support will begin concert "Freedom for Children", which will raise funds for summer camps for Ukrainian war orphans in Lithuania.
On stage, camp leaders from last year, volunteers mobilizing support for Ukraine, and public leaders will share their experiences and stories.
"We can give Ukrainian children moments of true childhood. Let's do that," says journalist Edmundas Jakilaitis, one of the founders of the volunteer platform "Strong Together".
This year will be the fourth year that nearly 500 war orphans from Ukraine have come to summer camps in Lithuania. They participate in film, sailing, football, robotics, and adventure camps, where they can escape from everyday fears and just be children for a while. They bring a lot of inner courage and motivation to cling to life in war-torn Ukraine.
"When I first took the bus to Ukraine three years ago to bring my children, I didn't know what I would see in their eyes. Fear? Despair? Emptiness? The children arrive silent. Every louder car, every plane in the sky makes them flinch, because in Ukraine only drones fly. Do you know what they want to do first after crossing the Lithuanian border? Eat a hamburger. A regular fast food hamburger restaurant"For them, it is a symbol of normal life," says one of the concert organizers and host E. Jakilaitis.
He has no doubt that when those children grow up, they will know that when they were in trouble, Lithuania was there for them. And if ever needed, they will stand up to defend not only their own freedom, but also ours.
Every year, nearly 500 war orphans from Ukraine come to summer camps in Lithuania. They participate in film, rowing, football, robotics, and adventure camps, where they can escape from everyday fears for a while and just be children.
“These children have inherited an incredibly difficult mission – someone will have to rebuild Bucha, Irpina and other cities. They will have to create the kind of state for which their parents sacrificed their lives – a Western, democratic, free Ukraine. But now they have to just be children. We cannot stop the war, but we can give them a summer vacation without the alarm sirens and the daily stress they experience at home,” says one of the concert organizers, Agnė Zalanskaitė.
On Saturday evening, the country's most famous performers will appear on stage, united by a common goal. The support concert will begin at 18.30:XNUMX p.m. with a special performance by Justinas Jaručis. Marijus Mikutavičius, Giedrė, Vaidas Baumila, Gabrielė Vilkickytė, the group "Jautì", Lukas Pilkauskas, Liepa Mondeikaitė, SKAMP, Merūnas, Gabrielius Vagelis, Rokas Yan, Patricija, the group ba. and others will prepare their songs for the concert.
"People affected by war need to be protected and cared for, especially children," says M. Mikutavičius. "In the summers, I played football, I didn't go to camps, I went to the countryside, and besides, I don't know how to speak pitifully, but no words are needed, everything is obvious - if you can do a good job, you should do it."
"I am contributing to this concert because I believe in the power of creativity to inspire the world for positive change. The language of music is a tool for me to spread meaningful messages to the world, and this concert provides an opportunity to turn my voice into a bridge - from our hearts to every child who needs attention, warmth, support and a spark of hope," said performer Patricija before the concert, adding that this is her mission on this Earth as a young creator - to ignite and share sparks with listeners.
On the stage at Lukiškės Square, the event's patron, Agnietė Rakauskaitė, head of the Baltic Shopping Center company that manages the MEGA shopping and leisure center, volunteers mobilizing support for Ukraine, and public leaders will share their experiences and stories about last year's camps.

They are now and they deserve to live in a world where there is room for joy, even in the darkest moments," G. Griniūtė is convinced.
