On April 25, Lithuania will commemorate a significant historical anniversary – the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of National Defence. On this occasion, the Ministry of National Defence invites all Lithuanians to remember and appreciate the contribution of the first defenders of the restored state, who took responsibility for the security of the state, and to participate in events designed to mark this special event in the history of the state.
To commemorate the anniversary, the Ministry of National Defence invites the public to participate together at the War Museum Beautiful at the conference on Lithuanian army The history of the creation of the Lithuanian Military Academy, and the open discussion that will follow. In Vilnius, in the courtyard of the Lithuanian Military Academy Library on Šv. Ignoto Street, the filming of the podcast “Vėl tie patys” will take place together with the audience. In it, Mantas Katleris, Rolandas Mackevičius, Mantas Stonkus, together with the Minister of National Defence Dovile Šakaliene and the Commander-in-Chief of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, General Raimundas Vaikšnors, will discuss Lithuania’s readiness to defend itself. The commemoration will be crowned by concert "35 for the restored national defense!" at the Ministry of National Defense Square.
On April 1990, 25, just a few weeks after the restoration of independence, the Lithuanian Government decided to establish the National Defence Department (NDD). It was the first institution entrusted with shaping the defense system of the restored state, laying the foundations for today's strong and modern defense system.

16:00 p.m. – Filming of the podcast “The Same Again” together with the audience. Participating are Mantas Katleris, Rolandas Mackevičius, Mantas Stonkus, Minister of National Defence Dovilė Šakalienė and Commander-in-Chief of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, General Raimundas Vaikšnoras. The participants of the conversation will talk about Lithuania's readiness to defend itself. The filming will take place in the courtyard of the Lithuanian Military Academy Library (Šv. Ignoto g. 6).
19:00 p.m. – Open to the public concert “Restored National Defense – 35!” at the Ministry of National Defense Square (Totorių g. 25). Famous stage performers will perform together with the Lithuanian Army Orchestra.
Temporary traffic changes at the Ministry of National Defence
On April 25 (Friday) at 19 p.m., a concert "Restored National Defense – 25!" will be held near the Ministry of National Defense (Totorių g. 35). There will be temporary traffic restrictions during the event and preparations for it.
Vehicle traffic will be prohibited on Totorių Street and J. Žemaitis Square near the Ministry of National Defence:
- from April 22nd at 19 pm to April 23rd at 4 am
- from April 23nd at 19 pm to April 24rd at 4 am
- from April 24nd at 8 pm to April 26rd at 12 am
