One of the most influential masters of contemporary jazz – saxophonist and composer Kenny Garrett – invites all fans to a special a concert in Vilnius, which will take place on March 25 at the LVSO Concert Hall. K. Garrett's music, full of the spirit of different generations and eras, promises to create a true jazz miracle.
"I always go to concerts with the goal of not only performing the pieces, but also involving the audience in our musical journey. Every concert is unique because we improvise, we create music right on stage. This is live music, and listeners can expect both intense and sensitive moments,” K. Garrett describes the connection between the music performed and the listeners that is established during the concerts. The concert program will be diverse – from K. Garrett’s latest works to classical jazz, with interesting improvisations that will involve the listeners in a unique musical world. This is one of the main musical missions of the artist and the reason why listeners like his concerts so much – they can feel that the music is being born here and now.
Kenny Garrett will perform tracks from his latest album at the shows Sounds from the Ancestors (2020), which has received great international acclaim. “This album is a fusion of jazz and African music. Each track has a deep history, combining tradition and contemporary sound. This is music where every note tells a story, and we hope that listeners will feel our radiant energy and passion,” says the artist.
K. Garrett's music does not leave anyone indifferent in Lithuania either - he has repeatedly surprised Lithuanian listeners, who like his courage to experiment and express feelings. "It's always fun to return to Lithuania, because the listeners here really appreciate music. They not only listen, but also feel that what is happening on stage is open and alive," says the saxophonist.
Over a career spanning nearly four decades, Garrett has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards and won for Best Instrumental Jazz Album. “The music you make should be something you want to listen to over and over again. And that’s what we try to do – create music that’s memorable,” he adds.
