Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra announces new season concerts

The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, preparing for the end-of-season concert on May 23 at the LVSO Concert Hall and the annual LVSO Summer Festival to be held from May 31 to June 19, has announced the concerts of the new 37th concert season. Led by Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Maestro Gintaras Rinkevičius, the ensemble will invite listeners to 15 concerts of different genres and exclusive programs with Lithuanian and foreign stars this autumn.

On September 19, listeners will be treated to a double celebration: the new season of the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will begin with the solemn anniversary of one of the most famous Lithuanian tenors, Edgaras Montvidas. An extraordinary work has been chosen for this special occasion – the opera “Tosca” by the Italian opera master Giacomo Puccini, in which the leading roles will be performed by the most famous Lithuanian opera stars Aušrinė Stundytė, Kostas Smoriginas, Edgaras Montvidas, soloists Joris Rubinovas, Eugenijus Chrebtovas, Mindaugas Jankauskas, Aleksandras Kunskis, Kaunas State Choir (conductor Robertas Šervenikas), the Boys and Youth Choir “Ąžuoliukas” (conductor Vytautas Miškinis) and the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra conducted by maestro G. Rinkevičius.

On September 26, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will invite you to a concert dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis a concert, in which, together with the choir "Jauna muzika" (conductor Vaclovas Augustinas), he will take a unique look at the work of MK Čiurlionis. The focus of the first part of the concert is the rarely performed work of MK Čiurlionis's harmonized folk songs, organically intertwined with the works of contemporary Lithuanian composers. The second part of the concert will feature one of MK Čiurlionis' most famous musical works - the symphonic poem "Sea". The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by maestro G. Rinkevičius.

On October 4, young listeners will be able to enjoy the premiere of the children's work "Wild Symphony" by the cult American writer and bestseller "The Da Vinci Code" Dan Brown. D. Brown's musical adventure will come to life in the LVSO Concert Hall along with cheerful video projections, actress Gintarė Latvėnaitė reading verses from the children's favorite book, which was also published in Lithuanian in 2020, and, of course, music performed by the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra. The concert will be conducted by Egidijus Kaveckas.

On October 10, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will invite its listeners to hear the young and talented German violinist Anne Luisa Kramb at the LVSO Concert Hall, along with a program of exceptionally beautiful works by the geniuses of Romantic music Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelssohn, and Antonín Dvořák. The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by maestro from Slovakia Peter Feranec.

On October 17, it is worth noting for piano lovers – the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, together with piano virtuoso Alexander Paley, is launching a new concert series, which will feature all the concertos for piano and orchestra by one of the most famous piano virtuosos, composers and pedagogues of the 17th century, Anton Rubinstein. On October 14, A. Paley, together with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, will perform A. Rubinstein’s First Piano Concerto at the LVSO Concert Hall. In the second part of the concert, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will play Ludwig van Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony. On November 1, listeners will be able to hear A. Rubinstein’s Second Piano Concerto and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. XNUMX (“Titan”). The concerts will be conducted by maestro G. Rinkevičius.

On November 28, the concert hall of the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will host the extremely talented young German-Uzbek pianist Nuron Mukumi, who will perform J. Brahms's First Piano Concerto together with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra. In the second part of the concert, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will perform one of the most famous works by the great French romantic Hector Berlioz - "Symphony Fantastic". The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by maestro from France Sébastien Rouland.

On November 30, the Vilnius Karoliniškės Music School will host a family concert "Autumn Stained Glass Windows" at the LVSO Concert Hall.

On December 12, one of the most famous classical performers in the world today, violinist Vadim Gluzman, will perform at the LVSO Concert Hall. The violin virtuoso's extensive repertoire will be performed together with the Berlin Philharmonic, Boston, Paris, Chicago, Amsterdam Royal Concertgebouw, Leipzig Gewandhaus and other world-famous symphony orchestras. In Vilnius, V. Gluzman will perform L. van Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D major. In the second part of the concert, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, together with the Kaunas State Choir (conductor Robertas Šervenikas), will invite the audience to hear the most famous works from the treasury of choral works by the Italian opera genius Giuseppe Verdi. The concert will be conducted by maestro G. Rinkevičius.

On December 18, the choirs of the Vilnius Choral Singing School "Liepaitės" will invite you to listen to the most beautiful Christmas carols at the LVSO Concert Hall.

December 27–31. The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will invite you to a traditional week of holiday concerts. On December 27, Povilas Meškėla, Česlovas Gabalis and Jeronimas Milius will perform the best classic rock hits of all time in the listeners' favorite "Rock Ballads". On December 28, the concert "Holiday Choirs" will feature works by Leonard Cohen, Michael Jackson, Prince, "Queen", U2 and other artists, performed by the gospel choirs "Vilnius Voices" and "GospelJonai" (conducted by Kristina Žaldokaitė). On December 29, Ieva Prudnikovaitė, Ona Kolobovaitė, Jeronimas Milius and Česlovas Gabalis will invite you to a program of Lithuanian musicals and films. On December 30, the eternal classic “The Queen Symphony” by composer Tolga Kashif will be performed with soloists violinist Saule Rinkevičiūtė, pianist Rūta Rinkevičiūtė-Buškevics, cellist Povilas Jacunskas, Kaunas State Choir (conductor R. Šervenikas) and the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra conducted by maestro G. Rinkevičius. On December 31, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will invite you to celebrate the New Year at the LVSO Concert Hall with the concert “Viva la Diva” with Ieva Prudnikovaitė, Ona Kolobovaitė and Evelina Sašenko, in which the soloists will perform the most famous hits of Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Madonna, Adele, Lady Gaga and other performers. Maestro G. Rinkevičius will conduct the festive concerts.
