The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, led by the artistic director and chief. conductor Gintaras Rinkevičius, is intensively preparing for the jubilee 30th concert season. Immediately after the end-of-season concert with cello legend Mischa Maisky, which caused euphoria in the audience, the orchestra revealed its plans for the 30th season - tickets for the concerts of the first half of the year are already on sale. As expected, the season promises to be truly spectacular.
The beginning of the season - with a world-famous violin star
The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will solemnly begin its 30th anniversary concert season on September 21. together with the world-famous star violin virtuoso Vadim Repin. V. Repin's talent shone in the musical sky very early - at the age of 11 he won a gold medal at the Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition and made his debut in Moscow and St. Petersburg, at the age of 14 he already performed in Tokyo, Munich, Berlin and Helsinki, and a year later - at the prestigious New York " Carnegie Hall concert hall. Since then, the violinist's name has been recorded in the Olympus of music stars - he plays with all the world's most famous symphony orchestras, including the London Symphony, London Philharmonic, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Tokyo NHK and others. V. Repin's recordings with such world-renowned stars as cellist Mischa Maisky, pianists Lang Lang and Nikolay Lugansky have won the prestigious Echo Classic and BBC Music Awards.
A bright and rich autumn awaits listeners
October 12 The listeners of the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra are waiting for a grandiose piece - the dramatic legend "The Damnation of Faust" by the French composer H. Berlioz based on JW Goethe's "Faust". Maestro G. Rinkevičius invited the entire circle of Lithuanian opera to perform the work - tenor Edgar Montvidas (Faust), mezzo-soprano Justina Gringytė (Margarita), baritone Kostas Smoriginas (Mephistopheles) and the Kaunas State Choir (conductor Petras Bingelis).
October 19 One of the most famous contemporary Lithuanian pianists, Andrii Žlabis, who has already won international recognition and is valued worldwide for his "effortless" virtuosity, sound, mesmerizing interpretations and richness of musical perception, will be heard at the Vilnius Congress Palace. A. Žlabys will perform S. Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" by S. Rachmaninov in the Vilnius Palace of Congresses, together with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra - an energetic, lively piece for piano and orchestra sparkling with wild passages.
Dark November will be generous with extremely bright concerts. November 9 In the Palace of Congresses in Vilnius, the king's hot and romantic Italy - the most beautiful arias from the operas of G. Puccini, G. Donizetti and R. Leoncavallo will be performed by tenor Merūnas Vitulskis, who has long won the hearts of the audience with his talent and sincerity. Next to the pearls of Italian operas, there will be an equally special Lithuanian piece - the symphonic poem "Jūra" by MK Čiurlionis performed by the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra.
November 10 In the evening, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will invite the primaries to see the "Baroque Light" - a concert dedicated to the 333rd anniversary of JS Bach's birth, featuring the greats of baroque music J. Bach, GF Händel, A. Vivaldi, G. Ph. Telemann's opuses will ingeniously intertwine and create dialogues with contemporary works - the impressionistic, picturesque and sensual "Landscape with Birds" by P. Vaskos performed by flutist Andrias Radziukyns for solo flute and the baroque improvisation for solo bassoon by Andrias Puplauskis, one of the most famous bassoonists in Lithuania. The concert will also feature A. Pärt's hypnotically suggestive composition "Fratres", which combines lively energy and sublime calmness, the junction of the moment and eternity.
November 16 Violin virtuoso Alena Baeva will be in Vilnius. in 2017 after debuting at the Lincoln Center in New York, the violinist received extremely favorable reviews from critics: "A. Baeva was like a magnet on stage. Both the sound of A. Baeva's instrument, as well as the richness of the sound and astonishingly accurate intonation were enchanting, and the soloist's strength and inner fire made her piece sound like a real masterpiece", - wrote the famous magazine "New York Classical Review" after the concert.
Children will be visited by a giraffe and a clicker
During the anniversary season, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will continue its educational mission, organizing special concerts for children and the whole family. September 29 Laimios Vilkončius' musical for children "Benediktas and the Giraffe", which was presented this spring and received great interest, will return to the Vilnius Palace of Congresses, in which actors Dominykas Vaitiekūnas, Aistė Lasytė and Gabrielia Kuodytė will play the main roles.
November 24 the listeners will be invited by the groups of the Vilnius Karoliniškii Music School, which are preparing the jubilee concert a concert for the school's 45th anniversary.
December 1 children will be able to immerse themselves in a real "Winter's Tale" with actor Andrius Bialobžeskis - the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will perform P. Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" smelling of winter miracles and the piece "The Young Listener's Guide to Getting to Know the Symphony Orchestra" written especially for children's education by the British composer B. December 15 The Vilnius Congress Hall will traditionally be filled with the sound of the most beautiful Christmas carols - they will be performed by the choirs of the Vilnius choral singing school "Liepaitė".
Festive concerts promise a lot of passion and emotions
The festive concerts of the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, which are always expected by the listeners, will sparkle with special energy this time. At the request of the public, even two concerts of the extremely successful project "Rock Ballads" will be held during the Christmas period on December 26 and 29, in which rockers Povilas Meškėla, Česlovas Gabalis and Jeronimas Milius will perform the best rock hits of all time together with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra. December 27 the most beautiful Christmas songs performed by Erica Jennings and the best works of the singer's solo repertoire will be played. December 28 The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will present the premiere - the festive concert "Mysterious Stories of Tango and Flamenco". In it, two fascinating women with exceptional temperament will join forces - the charismatic mezzo-soprano Ieva Prudnikovaitė and the flamenco dancer Marina de Flamenco, famous for her extraordinary technique and expressive abilities.
December 30 An exceptional musical masterpiece - one of the most famous choral works of all time, the magnificent stage cantata "Carmina Burana" by the German composer C. Orff for soloists, choir and orchestra - will be played at the Vilnius Congress Palace.
The last evening of the year will be completed by even two New Year's concerts. December 31 at 17 p.m. Kostas Smoriginas, one of the most famous Lithuanian baritones in the world, will perform the most beautiful opera arias together with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra. Immediately after, at 19 p.m. the orchestra will invite you to the "New Year's Eve of Musicals", where a talented quartet of soloists will perform - this year's "Voice of Lithuania" winner, Monika Marija Paulauskaitė, who has been compared to the world-famous star Adele, and performers Evelina Sašenko, Jeronimas Milius and Povilas Meškėla, who are already familiar to the listeners of the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra. The New Year's concert will feature arias from the most famous musicals of all time: "Phantom of the Opera", "Paris Cathedral", "Moulin Rouge" and others.
