The famous British rock band Nothing But Thieves has already started their world tour Death Club City in Europe and is heading to Vilnius. This Saturday, the band's new album Dead Club City is scheduled to be released at the Compensa concert hall. Dead Club City is the result of the band's ten years of friendship, ideas, experiences, ambitions, influences and lifestyle. This release and their live performances prove that now is truly their time.
Nothing But Thieves once toured with bands like Muse, Twin Atlantic, and Arcade Fire, but that phase is over. After a little over a decade of career, Nothing But Thieves has become a big and significant band - today their name shines from afar on the posters of major festivals.
BBC Radio 1 has named the group's single "Welcome To The DCC" the hottest record of the year, beating Olivia Rodrigo's hit "Vampire" and Miley Cyrus' "Flowers." the station Radio X named the band's next single, "Overcome," their record of the year. They have outdone many other bands and are undoubtedly the leaders of the new wave of rock. The foundation of it all is their friendship since school days.
The musical style of Nothing But Thieves is compared to bands such as Foals, The Neighbourhood and Civil Twilight. They themselves call their music muscular rock, where good elements of popular music also find a place. They break myths and prove that the friendship of rock and pop music is possible and even very effective. All 11 songs of the album Dead Club City sound best live, written for stadiums and rich in their sound. In other words, real rock anthems of today. Nothing But Thieves' records are full of ideas, good popular music hooks, soul harmonies, hip hop rhythms, carefully arranged riffs and are devoid of any progressive rock mentality.
Nothing But Thieves are not coming to Lithuania alone and have announced a noteworthy reinforcement. The evening will be opened by the current British rock band The Snuts. They are worth getting to know and such a big concert. Last year they shared the same stage with Louis Tomlinson, and two years ago, after releasing the EP The Matador on their own, they received an invitation from the Parlophone record company itself, which owned such names as The Beatles, Lily Allen, Babyshambles. Unfortunately, not everything was as beautiful as it might seem at first glance.
“We were told that music doesn’t matter. After all, Tik Tok is all the rage right now. It’s hard to condense your work into a minute and dedicate it to social media, which will probably die in ten years,” The Snuts recall today. After two records released on Parlophone and NME, which were rated 4 out of 5 stars, The Snuts founded their own record label, Happy Artist Label, focused on the mental health of artists.
Nothing But Thieves' last UK tour was a sell-out. Even two shows at London's Wembley Stadium were sold out. Today, they have thousands of listeners worldwide, and for good reason - Nothing But Thieves is one of the most progressive British rock bands, difficult to describe in words and a must-see live experience.
