Already on June 13th, to the anniversary a concert, dedicated to the tenth anniversary of his work, inviting "Daddy Was A Milkman" today shared good news for all his music fans: the artist, whose real name is Ignas Pociūnas, presents his latest album "Quite Something", the songs of which will also be performed at the concert in Vilnius In the mountain park – in a special place, which the performer himself calls ideal for this occasion.
Tickets for the "Daddy Was A Milkman" concert in Vilnius's Kalnų Parks can be purchased at all "Bilietai.lt" box offices and online.
The new album is coming out on May 9th - what will your listeners hear?
I used to think that a music album had to be cohesive, stylistically stable. Now I think that's not necessarily the case.
This album is different in that the songs were written over several years without holding hands, they are more diverse, and half of them are in Lithuanian.
Soft electronics are joined by long-awaited acoustic pieces, live drums have appeared on the recordings, and new people have made their contribution.
– How would you describe the mood and sound of this album compared to your previous works?
I feel how the understanding of joy is changing against the background of transience. I have not run away from what is going on in my head, neither before nor now, so the album is as personal and open as my previous works. This is extremely important to me.
A larger team than usual contributed to the songs - it feels like it. This time, a big thank you not only to Vitis Vaičiulis, but also to producers Snorre Bergerud and Paulis Vaicekauskas / Plucando. The new colors are most evident in the songs "Oru", "Two Days from Now", "Sunset to Sunrise".
– Are there any songs on this album that are most special to you personally? Why?
All songs have their own source of inspiration, stimulus, or reason for having a place in the heart and being on the album.
If I had to single out one, it would be "Quite Something." It's existential, deep, and encompasses all the themes of the other songs. It's just bigger, which is why the album is titled that way.
I am close to the understanding that the mere fact that we exist is worthy of gratitude and recognition, that our place in the universe has appeared due to the laws of nature, and not our merit in being here. Man tends to simplify everything and narrow the world down to his everyday life. For some, that is all that is interesting, while others are afraid of that inexplicable, majestic infinity that we see when we raise our heads at night.
When we filmed the video for this song in the Norwegian fjords, we intentionally stayed longer after filming and, among the high-altitude lakes, played a mini concert under the open sky for ourselves and the incredible nature surrounding us.
It's hard to describe the feeling when you're intoxicated by a new experience and realize that you've unlocked another way to feel absolutely happy.

– On June 13th, you will celebrate your 10th career anniversary – how do you feel when you look back on this entire period?
I can't believe it happened to me, that so many people heard and loved the songs.
I managed to accomplish things I could only dream of, and I accumulated countless of the most beautiful memories and experiences.
The most amazing people came into my world thanks to music - in this respect, music has been very generous to me.
I feel gratitude and warmth, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who is or has been accompanied by the music of "Daddy Was A Milkman".
We will meet and give a proper thank you in Vilnius Mountain Park very soon – on June 13th.
– Why did you choose Vilnius Mountain Park to commemorate this occasion?
One of the first performances took place right here, in Kalnų Parks, when we participated in the "Summer In The City" festival in June 2016.
This place is nostalgic for me - I feel like we're coming home after a long journey.
On such an occasion, you want to play in your hometown, under the open sky, when we all miss summer evenings with music in nature.
When you're here, it's hard to believe you're in the center of Vilnius. Not to mention – Mountain park has its own connection to music. Just the perfect place to celebrate a decade.
– What can the audience expect at the concert?
New music, songs we've heard for a long time, a guest who will join us for the first time and give the concert new colors.
There will also be new merchandise – alongside the new album vinyl record "Quite Something", we have prepared an additional vinyl edition of "When Autumn Taught Me".
However, what I most look forward to is the same spirit and mutual warmth that we share with our most loyal listeners every time.
A stylish, as always open-hearted and musically diverse birthday evening awaits.
I sincerely invite you to celebrate together.
