Already this Wednesday, July 10, the III International Vilnius Carillon Festival "A duo" will begin, inviting Vilnius residents and city guests to as many as five free concerts in which well-known works will be performed by carillon and vocal or musical instrument duets. We invite you to listen to the concerts every Wednesday until August 7, after the evening Mass, at 19 p.m., at St. in the church yard of the Apostles Philip and Jacob.
"Last year, the Polish carillionaire was supported live by the French horn. It turned out to be an interesting concept, so we asked this year's participants to prepare programs for a duo, that is, a duet of carillon and vocals or another instrument. I can confirm that at this year's concerts, the audience will hear saxophone, guitar, bagpipe and harmonica, electronic instruments, - the Dominican brother Mindaugas Slapšinskas OP reveals the details of the festival. - Of course, the listeners will not feel it, but technically sounding the second instrument in the church tower was a real challenge for the festival organizers."
The monk says that the program of the XNUMXrd Vilnius Carillon Festival, which also includes popular works well known to the general public, is no less interesting.
"The festival program is really interesting and impressive. Not only the works written for the carillon will be played, but also classical melodies, songs of popular musicians and bands, film and animation music tracks, says the Dominican brother. - Well-known Dutch carillonneur Gerda Peters will play at the opening concert, Sarina Brouver will support her on saxophone. The musicians will perform works by A. Piazola, E. Clapton, L. Enaudi, groups "Coldplay", "Queen", "The Beatles".
The Dutch will also play the well-known song "Old Roofs of Vilnius" by Jonas Mašanauskas, a great Lithuanian pop singer.
The free concerts of the III International Vilnius Carillon Festival will take place on Wednesdays from July 10 to August 7 at 19 p.m.
