Christopher's Summer Festival on August 16. at 19 p.m. invites you to the series "Hours of Sacred Music" a concert, dedicated to the memory of philanthropists Aleksandras and Juozas Kazickas. Martynas Levickis, the country's most famous accordionist, and Renata Marcinkutė Lesieur, artistic director of "Hours of Sacred Music", professor of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, and organist will unite their musical forces in it.
Martynas Levickis and Renata Marcinkutė Lesieur - ambassadors of their instrument, who are welcomed on the big stages of the world, will play a duet for the first time. The one-hour program will include works by A. Vivaldi, JS Bach, A. Piazzolla and other composers.
"I have heard many different ensembles with organ, but accordion and organ duet is a challenge and a very interesting opportunity for me. I am happy to experiment, because I believe that this way I will "infect" the audience with my curiosity. At concerts, I feel that the listeners are interested in hearing something new, unheard of. I really like the sound of the accordion, especially when Martynas Levickis plays it, so it's fun to present our new ensemble on such a special occasion," says organist Renata Marcinkutė Lesieur.
Event, dedicated to the wedding anniversary of Aleksandra and Juoz Kazickas, reminds us of the importance of values and faith in each of our lives. Having fallen in love at first sight, they got married in 1941. August 15 in occupied Vilnius, after experiencing exile and war, the Kazicks created a new life across the Atlantic and became one of the most beautiful examples of Lithuanian worldliness, citizenship and human warmth.
Martynas Levickis says that his duet with the organ, like life in marriage, will give new experiences: "The sonic world of these instruments creates a unique opportunity to travel through time, experience a rare harmony of sound and simply enjoy the moment." The audience can expect an interesting conversation, dialogue, perhaps discussion between related, but at the same time quite distant instruments. It is not the first time that I personally appear in the program with the organ, and I hope that the Lithuanian format of such a concert will interest the listeners", says the performer.
Concert will be held in Vilnius St. Kazimierz (Jesuit) church, whose space, according to R. Marcinkutė-Lesieur, influences the musical program: "Space and atmosphere influence not only the event, but are also part of it. It starts with the concept of the event, its creation. St. Kazimierz Church is a special, sacred space, so the selected program will be somewhat different from what we usually hear in concert halls. St. Kazimierz's church is characterized by particularly good acoustics, which gives the music a special beauty and diverse sound shades. I invite you to come, listen, experience the musical event we are creating together in a sacred space".
It will be possible to hear the unique musical duet of accordionist Martynas Levickis and organist Renata Marcinkutė Lesieur on August 16. at 19 p.m. St. Kazimierz Church, Vilnius. Entrance is free.
