While preparing for the April 29th rock fiesta at Siemens Arena, members of ba., Colors of Bubbles and Freaks on Floor find time for good works. In collaboration with Ieva Krivickaite, the initiator of the "Not about me" project, the musicians at "R Kubu" a concert will invite children from poor families.
At the end of April, ten teenagers living in the Plunge district will be delighted with a two-day stay in Vilnius, where, among other planned entertainment, they will be able to have fun at the "R Kubu" concert. Children will not only be entertained by the music of their favorite bands, but will also have the opportunity to walk around the backstage of the Siemens Arena, meet, chat and take pictures with the performers.
Ieva Krivickaitė, who has been taking care of sick, poor, needy and loveless children for years, is convinced that it is very important to show the children of hard-living families a big and bright world that really does not end at the border of their village.
"The idea of taking the children to bigger cities, taking them to the theater or a concert came from talking to the children themselves and the social workers who look after them. We want to encourage children to achieve goals, dream and never give up," says Ieva.
She, together with her colleagues, has been engaged in such activities for many years, and these families living in Žemaitija are well known to Ieva. The initiators of the project periodically take food or clothes to them, help parents send their children to school, and fulfill their Christmas wishes.
"Seventeen young children went to Vilnius in the spring, they saw the toy museum, playrooms, ate delicious food, but the teenagers living there remained as if they were wronged and didn't go anywhere," says Ieva. - I timidly thought that it would be wonderful to encourage those who are trying to study well or attend various groups after school - to give them a concert and a fun time in Vilnius, to let them escape from all the worries at home."
According to Ieva, living in a village near a small town, just going out to Vilnius is already a lot of fun for children, so she is very happy that more and more people want to share and help each other.
The members of the bands ba., Colors of Bubbles and Freaks on Floor who contribute to the initiative say that music is what helps them to move forward, so they are happy to join this beautiful idea and brighten up the everyday life of others with their works.
"If we can, we always try to participate in social projects and talk about painful problems. We share our music not only to be heard, but also so that others may find stories of strength or joy in it," they affirm in unison.
