"Vilnius Baroque Face" is the name of the series of concerts organized by the international early music ensemble "Canto Fiorito", dedicated to the great architectural master of the Vilnius Baroque School, Johann Christoph Glaubitz, who created a distinctive late baroque style and decorated Vilnius with unique church towers, which The dominant, exclusive face of the old town of Vilnius. In the concerts of the series, the audience is invited to listen to the music of Glaubic's time and style, performed with historical instruments in the churches he created. 2019 is dedicated to this architect concert took place in the church, due to which in 1737 he came to the capital of Lithuania - at the Vilnius Evangelical Lutheran Sanctuary, last year - after St. Catherine's vaults, and this year St. John's Church, considered by many to be Glaubic's most outstanding work. Like all of this cycle dedicated to Glaubic events, performing an important educational mission, the concert will be free.
November 25 19.30 o'clock a concert St. St. John's Church will be opened by LDK baroque architecture and art researcher dr. Auksė Kaladžinskaitė's short introductory lecture about Glaubica. The late baroque music program created by the artistic director of the project, Rodrigo Calveira, will be performed not only by "Canto Fiorito" and the permanent partner of this cycle, "Nova Silesia" from Poland, but this time also by the historical string quartet "Richter Ensemble" from the United Kingdom, led by the famous baroque violinist Rodolfo Richter. . Until now, only the listeners of the Kretinga Old Music Festival had the privilege of hearing this quartet, and now the audience of the capital will also get to know the ensemble. The composition of three early music ensembles will allow the presentation of larger works for chamber orchestra.
At the concert "Vilnius Baroque Face III" St. John's Church will feature the music of the Dresden court of Augustus II, the ruler of the LDK during Glaubik's time - vocal and instrumental works by Johann Adolph Hasses and Nicola Porpora. The program also includes the work of Georg Philipp Telemann - Telemann worked in Silesia, where Glaubic was born. The highlight of the program is Hasse's composition "Miserere", for string orchestra and an unusual composition of singers - four female voices that will create a truly angelic sound.
