Today, virtual reality technology is increasingly integrated into various areas of activity and is becoming an important tool in everyday life. However, in Lithuania, there is still little talk about wellness areas together with virtual reality equipment. The East Island SPA network has decided to be the first in Lithuania to integrate virtual reality technology into SPA services and thus provide people with the opportunity to experience not only more pleasant experiences, but also to receive the benefits provided by VR.
"Due to the intensifying pace of life in Lithuania, SPA doors are being opened more and more often, and the duration of selected massages is getting longer. Therefore, we have been thinking for a long time and looking for ways that would help SPA visitors relax faster and more effectively. This is how the idea of integrating virtual reality technology into SPA services came about."

VR is widely used in the fields of health, fear, and psychological trauma treatment, so we have no doubt about the effectiveness of virtual reality. Various scientific studies have confirmed that it really helps reduce stress, relax faster, clean up unnecessary thought. For example, enjoying beach views in virtual reality can evoke the same emotions as in real life. True, before introducing this service, we tested it with a group of people who confirmed that using the virtual reality service before a massage made them feel more relaxed during the massage. Therefore, there is no need to spend extra money on longer massages, a short VR therapy before the upcoming SPA service is enough. Therefore, we are glad that by introducing this innovative SPA news in Lithuania, we allow people to try not only an additional means of relaxation, but also save money,” says Gintarė Saulė, Communications Manager of the East Island SPA center.
"Although virtual reality is not new in Lithuania, in order to include it in SPA activities, we encountered not only difficulties in finding the most suitable VR device on the market, but also curious situations when importing these devices into Lithuania. We had problems with customs procedures, because no one had imported anything like this into Lithuania before, so it took a long time to find the right code for the product."

Although there is a fairly wide selection of VR devices on the market, such virtual reality glasses, into which a mobile phone is inserted, were not suitable for us due to their limited technical capabilities and inconvenient use. We are the first in Europe to have this virtual reality device, which we use in our SPA services. It is a device specially designed for the SPA industry, and based on the experiences in Japan, Australia and JAV Based on the experience of operating SPA centers and those using this VR device, we had no doubts about its suitability.
This VR device has 12 different locations with 360-degree views, relaxing music, and two professionally created meditation programs that allow you to individually and uninterruptedly perform meditation programs lasting from 5 to 20 minutes. We had to pay attention to the convenience of the VR device, so we consider it a great advantage that the VR glasses and headphones are operated wirelessly, so no additional connection cables are required,” says G. Saulė.
