City residents and guests who come to Vilnius Town Hall Square on July 14 will enter the unique design and art event "Location". The first of its kind event will bring together dozens of creators from all over Lithuania and give participants the opportunity to actively engage in the creative process. Visitors are welcome all day - from 11 am to 20 pm.
Event organizer and participant Erika Kielė emphasizes that "Lokacija" is an active creative space. It is staffed by people who are indifferent to design and art, both amateurs and professionals. They want to help get to know the creative process: "Only by seeing how an object is born, or at least a part of it, visitors will understand the value and price of that object. The process itself is the most interesting!" says Erika. Location promotes responsible consumption, sustainable fashion, authenticity and a DIY philosophy. It is expected that foreign guests will also get to know the local creators: they will be highly visible and accessible in the public space - the city square.
The axis of the event is a creative workshop. Their goal is not only to introduce visitors to creators and their works, but also to create and experience art together. Artists of various disciplines will present their work interactively, and the spectrum of activities and performances is very wide. About 60 participants are expected. Air acrobats "Airdance Vilnius" will present the visual art project "Lifeforms". Painting exhibitions and live painting workshops by Tado Tru Chill, Rūta Matulevičiūtė, and Giedrė Šiaulytė will take place. Violeta Mackialo will invite the blind to draw in order to find not only verbal, but also spiritual, artistic communication between people. Art studio "Artoteka" will initiate a candle casting workshop, "RV Agency" will offer to see for yourself how much fun it is to play with things made from secondary raw materials. There will be a bubble blowing workshop, it will be possible to try on fashion products in Danuta Šimelytė's installation, hear how paintings sound or get a hairstyle. Everyone will be able to try the innovative electronic music device "Mash Machine" and create music themselves. To get to know the artists and designers better, they will participate in public interviews on the topic "What do people do all day?". During the event, more than 40 creators will present their creations in the "POP-UP" store.
Children will be able to participate in the Small Interior Designers Workshop organized by the home decoration center UNIDECO. Here they will create wall hanging patterns. Another UNIDECO initiative is that visitors will be able to capture and take snapshots as gifts in a room set up in the city square. Mackis playground and badminton court will also be waiting for children.
