On May 7-14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania will once again invite the citizens of Vilnius and the guests of the city to the European Day commemoration events, which have become a tradition. This year, on the occasion of Europe Day, special attention will be paid to schoolchildren and young people. The events of Europe Week will be crowned by the traditional fair of European nations, which will be held on May 11-13 in Gediminas Prospect, and on May 12, a festive event dedicated to Europe Day concert Vincas Kudirka Square in Vilnius.
Europe Day celebrations are planned events:
European passport game. On May 7-11, an orientation game for schoolchildren "European passport" is organized. With this passport, students who visit embassies, state institutions, and other organizations participating in the game will receive special stickers, and those who collect the most stickers will be awarded with prizes established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Commission and other partners.
Institutions invite guests. During Europe Week, most Lithuanian institutions will open their doors to young people and the public, inviting them to events, discussions and debates about the European Union. European week holiday weekend. On May 11-13, Vilnius residents and guests of the city are invited to public events dedicated to Europe Day, which have become a tradition. The fair of European countries will be buzzing on Gediminas Avenue, where the cuisine of various European countries will be presented. On May 12, a space for discussions about Europe will be open in V. Kudirka Square, and the celebration will be crowned by a concert featuring the big band of Lithuanian national defense volunteers, the groups "Golden Parazyth" and "The Roop".
Europe Day has been celebrated in Lithuania since 2002. It is intended to commemorate the idea of a united Europe put forward by French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman on May 1950, 9, which is considered the official beginning of the European Union.
