Contemporary Art Center became the epicenter of fashion – the annual "Fashion infections" casting, which was attended by almost 300 models: from experienced agency faces to brave newcomers and the heroes of S. Bliuvaitė's acclaimed film "Akiplėša". The festival designers are pleased that every year more and more self-confident and freer young people, who are not afraid to show off their different figures, unique facial features or rebellious character, are choosing to participate in the casting. The fact that the army of models is complete means one thing - "Fashion Infection" is not far off!
How does fashion sound?
On May 23-24, the space of the Contemporary Art Center will turn into a giant podium, which will be rocked not only by hundreds of models, but also by a special musical background. On May 23, Vilnius-based electronic music creator, producer and DJ will take the stage Martin BaranauskasHaving walked the podium of "Fashion Infection" many times himself, he knows best how to start a party. M. Baranauskas stands out with his deep, minimalist sound, which combines downtempo, house, ambient ir techno musical elements, Lithuanian poetry often sounds in sensitive works.
On Saturday, May 24, at the invitation of Sandra Straukaitė, a unique sound artist and composer of electroacoustic music will fly in from Paris. Tarek Atoui. Born in Lebanon, currently working in France, T. Atoui is distinguished by original musical experiments born from traveling and collaborating with like-minded artists. Together with his team, he constructs a variety of instruments, emphasizing the inseparable homogeneity of sound and form. Tarek Atoui's works have been exhibited at the Tate Modern in London and at the Venice Art Biennale, and the artist's works have been acquired by the Guggenheim Museum, the Tate and the Pinault Collection. The composer, who dresses brightly and extravagantly during performances, says that he will play in Vilnius for his own pleasure and hopes that the audience will also immerse themselves in the multi-layered, sensory-enhancing space of his sounds.
SHOP-US > style guides for wardrobe renovation
On May 20-22, on the eve of the “Fashion Infection” festival, a special designer pop-up space “SHOP-US” will be set up in the library of the Contemporary Art Center. If you don’t always manage to knock on the door of your favorite designer’s studio, for three days, the most loyal style lovers will have the opportunity to see and touch the couture of designers working in Lithuania and abroad. It will be possible to try on and purchase the original works of this year’s festival participants – Reda Paula, Kristina Kruopienytė, Bertemilija, Diana Paukštytė, Raimedas Latvis, Ula Aleksandravičiūtė, Sandra Straukaitė, Povilas Gegevičius, Domantas Šmaižys and Serena Coelho from Copenhagen. The loyal names of “Fashion Infection” from previous years have not been forgotten: Inga Skripka, Akvilė Jančauskaitė and Adelė Burokaitė.
