"Up close – not from hearsay or screens – seeing how decisions that affect all of our lives are made, allows us to better understand what state governance is, how each of us can contribute to it and begin to believe more in our state. For the third year running, we have been inviting visitors to this event, where you can not only get to know the Government Palace, but also empathize with the roles of ministers and chancellors of ministries, and see the diversity and complexity of the issues being addressed here. In addition, this year, the atmosphere of the "Culture Night" not only inspires us to look at the state governance process through the prism of theatrical improvisation, but also invites us to celebrate together the anniversary of one of Lithuania's most prominent artists," says Laimonas Rudys, Chancellor of the Government.
Having gathered for the Government meeting simulation, the event participants will enter the meeting room, where the Cabinet of Ministers headed by the Prime Minister meets every week. The employees of the Government Chancellery will introduce the attendees to the principles of organizing meetings, and will explain the path that laws take from initiative, consideration at the Interinstitutional Meeting and the Government meeting, until they find themselves The Seimas and are accepted. Professional actors will help you to get into the roles of the meeting participants and perform improvisation - the event participants will together make decisions important for all of Lithuania. After the staged meeting, guides will be waiting for the participants and will show them the Government Palace.
This year, in celebration of the anniversary of MK Čiurlionis, the program of the “Culture Night” at the Government will be supplemented by the night film program “Čiurlionis Time”, which will be shown in the authentic space that has survived since 1982 – the Government Cinema Hall. Here, those gathered will see three newly restored short films by Lithuanian film greats dedicated to Čiurlionis: A. Dausa’s “MK Čiurlionis: Thoughts, Pictures, Music” (1965), A. Žebriūnas’ “In the Forest” (1967) and R. Verba’s “Sisters” (1973). More information about this and other events dedicated to the anniversary year of Čiurlionis can be found on the website of the “Čiurlionis 150” program curated by the Government Chancellery at ciurlioni150.lt.
