Internationally recognized artist Agnė Kišonaitė is preparing to create the Vilnius Light Festival in 2025. January 24-26 to present a new art installation in the capital called "The Dreaming Sun", the main material of which is used tennis balls. Therefore, the creator invites all fans and promoters of Lithuanian tennis to contribute to the implementation of this unique project - to collect used balls and give them to the artist's workshop.
"When I long for the sun in the darkest winter months, I start to see it everywhere: in orange oranges, in the flames of the fireplace, in brightly colored tennis balls. The lack of sun encourages not only to travel to warm countries, but also to create a sun that I could see whenever I wanted", says Agnė Kišonaitė, who creates art from everyday objects and objects, about her future project, whose artwork "Lipstick Tower", 2015. exhibited in Hong Kong, entered the Guinness Book of Records.
The talented artist, who is famous for her innovative approach to contemporary art, creativity and the integration of sustainability ideas, continues the theme of sustainability in her work and during the upcoming Vilnius Light Festival intends to warm the people of Vilnius and the guests of the city with a huge, cheerful and bright "sun", created from thousands of collected tennis balls and tennis courts. networks that will fill in the details of the light installation being created.
With this installation, the creator wants to show that everyone can create their own "sun" - a metaphor for a pleasant, warm, joyful feeling inside. It also aims to convey waste art the idea that any item in the right hands can be used for a second life.
"By sorting and creatively utilizing waste, we not only contribute to a more sustainable and nature-friendly environment, but also to the creation of art. Not everything that we have sorted and prepared for disposal needs to be taken to the garbage container - with the help of creativity, impressive works of art can be created from various items that are no longer in use", say the organizers of the Vilnius Light Festival, who are impressed by the inspiring ideas and also foster a responsible approach to consumption and environmental protection.
