The Lithuanian Florists' Union continues its annual traditions and invites you to the spring fair "Lietuvos žintai 2022". This year, it will be the 49th time that the fair will invite florists, gardeners, farmers and folk craftsmen to sell their grown and created beauties. All those interested in plants are welcome in the VU Botanic Garden in Kairenai already this weekend - May 27-29.
"The "Lietuvos žintai" fair has been taking place for several decades. We are happy that we managed to gather even several hundred participants from all over Lithuania and maintain the annual traditions. We hope that the exhibition-fair "Lietuvos Žiedai" will help to expand the business of growing decorative plants, more beautiful greenery will increase in our region, and the range of decorative plants will expand. Therefore, we strongly invite everyone who is interested in growing plants to come to the fair, where they will not only buy the plant they want, but also get valuable advice", says Dr. Regina Juodkaitė, organizer of the fair.
At the fair, it will be possible to purchase various seedlings - annual and perennial flowers, vegetables, spices. Various fruit trees, fruit bushes, decorative trees will also be sold. Visitors will have the opportunity not only to buy the plants they want, but also to learn how to grow, care for and nurture plants. During the fair, it will also be possible to purchase various handicrafts made of ceramics, stone or metal.

- on Friday (May 27) from 10.00:19.00 a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
- on Saturday (May 28) from 08.00:19.00 to XNUMX:XNUMX.

The fair takes place in a unique place - Vilnius University in the botanical garden in Kairėnai, Kairėnai st. 43, Vilnius.
Vilnius University (VU) Botanical Garden is visited by thousands of visitors every year who want to enjoy the colors and scents of spring, summer and autumn flowers, trees. The garden invites you to discover biodiversity in the plant collections and their displays. The largest and most impressive collections are cultivated here: rhododendrons, lilacs, lianas, peonies, dahlias, irises, lilies, bulbous flowers, etc. More than 40 different collections are collected for the cognitive and educational needs of the public, pupils and students. These are educational, thematic, biodiversity, scientific, breeding and cultural plant gene pool conservation collections. The largest collection of plants in the Baltic States has been collected and grown in the VU Botanical Garden - more than 10 plants. plants of foreign lands and natural flora (flowers, trees, bushes, fruit bushes, tropical plants, etc.).
VU Botanical Garden was founded in 1781. Over 240 years, the garden has become an integral part of science, as well as educational and social life for Vilnius University and the capital's communities. Historical circumstances led to the fact that the Botanical Garden was even moved several times. Today it is located and welcomes visitors and provides various services in two places of the Lithuanian capital: Kairenai (since 1974) and In Vingo Park (since 1919). The total area of the Botanic Garden is as much as 199 ha: Vingy – 7,35 ha, Kairenai – 191,5 ha, so it is the largest in Lithuania. The garden is also interesting for history buffs, because the garden in Kairėnai is located in an old manor, where a park with a system of ponds, outbuildings of the manor have survived.
