On March 26, the Lithuanian Children and Youth Center (LVJC) will host "Swim NOT Drown" event, where celebrities will dive into the pool and test their water survival skills. Together with the Lithuanian Children and Youth Center, they will seek to draw the public's attention to drowning and show the possibilities of reducing it.
Swimming is not only enjoyable, but also a vital skill. A person's ability to survive in adverse situations in the water depends on it. Although the situation in Lithuania is improving, the drowning rates remain among the highest in the world. In view of this, on March 26, from 12.00:13.30 to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m., the LVJC pool will host "swim NOT sink" event.
At the event, Justinas and Justina Jaručiai, Vytautas and Eva Rumšai, Gabrielius Liaudanskas-Svaras, Laura Vagonė, Tadas Pocius, Giedrė Valavičiūtė, Valdas Jankauskas, and children will dive into the pool and try the "Swimming ABC" program developed by the Lithuanian Children and Youth Center together with the Netherlands. This program is unique in that it teaches children not only how to swim, but also other vital skills: how to deal with an unexpected fall into the water with clothes on, how to navigate underwater without swimming goggles, how to swim a greater distance and stay afloat longer in emergency situations.
Other swimming programs aimed at reducing drowning in the long term will also be briefly presented at the event. It also introduces a new way for parents to effectively teach their children to swim!
