When the Night of the Dews approaches, plants reveal their special properties, so this is the most suitable time to enjoy the living, blooming and teeming nature and stock up on the good things it provides. From 11 a.m. until the evening, herbalists, folk artists and representatives of culinary heritage will invite you to buy herbs, various seedlings, natural products, folk art and healthy delicacies. Visitors to Lukiškės Square will not only be able to get organic medicinal herbs, but also to talk to herbalists who have been accumulating experience for many years.
Cultivating the deep traditions of Rasi and the city of Vilnius, the Herb Market combines the ideas of an ecological lifestyle and folklore, so next to the lectures on traditional Lithuanian nurseries full of medicinal herbs, the summer dishes of the old gaspadini and discussions about invasive plants organized by the Student Naturalists' Scientific Society, the Herb Market will also offer a cultural program surrounded by the sounds of folklore. . Traditional melodies will be played by "Vilniaus kaimo kapela", the girls of the folklore ensemble "Laukis" will delight with songs and conventional songs about visiting the meadows and crops, and in the evening the electronic music of "Girių dvasių" full of Lithuanian nature will sound and the energetic "Rakija Klezmer Band" will encourage you to dance!
To learn about the essence of midsummer holidays and their traditions, ethnologist, folklorist and journalist Gražina Kadžytė will invite you from the archive of Lithuanian folklore, which also contains part of the dowry of her own summer expeditions. The spirit of the mid-summer festival will also be strengthened by other activities of the Herb market: wreath weavers will be waiting for nine varieties of scented herbs, outdoor games and soap bubbles will entice the little ones and adults who haven't forgotten their inner child in the meadow, and face painting and temporary tattoo artists will be waiting for those who want to dress up in the symbols of the holiday.
