As remote work is rapidly becoming popular all over the world, as well as in Lithuania, the culture of such work is increasingly becoming an axis of discussion. This is what motivated the developers of Tech Zity, an exclusive office and co-working space, infrastructure for success, on February 24-25. to be invited to the first virtual remote work conference in Lithuania "Re!Work".
"The goal of the conference is to bring together representatives of companies working remotely, freelancers and to share the latest and most important remote work practices, to discuss emerging challenges and ways to solve them," says solopreneur Rūta Dambytė, the creator of the conference and curator of the program.
The interviewer adds that this conference is intended not only for those who already work remotely, but also for those who still want to change office work to remote work.
"We want to promote the still relatively young remote work culture. We notice that the market is becoming more active, we are looking for more and more places to work locally, in an interesting and inspiring way, and to relax at the same time", says Lina Dabašinskaitė, head of the community and events of TechZity, the co-working space that initiated the conference.
The office is like a library where you come to change spaces
The Re!Work conference will take place over two days. On the first day of the conference, February 24, even 4 discussions will be held, in which remote work experts and company managers from all over the world will participate. Several announcements will also be made. The conference will be opened by Ilma Nausėdaitė, co-founder and manager of Mailerlite and The Remote Company.
"Our products are currently used by more than a million businesses worldwide. And 140 professionals from 40 countries work in the team. For the past 8 years, we have been calling ourselves remote-first organization. This means that the office is there and you can go to it, but all communication, business meetings and decision-making take place virtually. Our office is more like a co-working space or a library, where you can come if you want to change the working environment", says Ilma Nausėdaitė.
There will also be four panel discussions on the first day of the conference. Representatives of startups and companies will discuss and offer solutions for managing companies that have chosen remote work and hiring talent.
During the next discussion year, specialists from abroad will reveal their experiences and share tips on how to find the right community of specialists who have chosen remote work. There will also be a discussion about telecommuting as an opportunity to improve psychological health, and the best workation (combination of work and vacation - lit.) direction.
Office spaces will change, there will be more co-working spaces
The Re!Work conference will present not only the best remote work practices, but also trends that are increasingly integrated into today's work culture.
"I think those companies that can work remotely, but do not offer such an option, will become less attractive to potential employees. However, competition in the labor market will also increase - after all, when working remotely, geographical boundaries disappear and companies can attract talent from abroad", says Rūta Dambytė, the organizer of the conference, who has been working remotely for more than 13 years.
Looking at current trends, the traditional office is increasingly taking on a different meaning. Modern offices are not limited to "location of one address". Flexibility and the ability to offer employees a job from a convenient location becomes one of the components of a job offer. It doesn't matter if it's in the same city, just closer to home, or in another city or state. Co-working spaces are also useful for a flexible perception of the office (co-working - English). It is predicted that by 2024 5 million professionals in their field will work in such spaces globally.
"Teams that have grown during the peak of the pandemic, especially online businesses, are looking for more and more interesting solutions for their offices, rather than traditional ones. This is one of the reasons why Tech Zity actively creates exceptional spaces for work, leisure, recreation and takes care of its growing community. Quality requirements for work spaces are also growing, the topic of sustainability is becoming relevant even when talking about workplaces. For this reason, renovated buildings that already have history are of interest to companies that want to create their success stories here. And for us, of course, it is important that professionals in their field feel inspired, productive and surrounded by like-minded people in any of our spaces", says Darius Žakaitis, founder and manager of Tech Zity.
The Times When Working From Home Became 'Legal'
The Re!Work conference will also break down certain stereotypes about remote work. One of them is that such work is less efficient than when working in an office.
"Before the pandemic, those who skillfully shared photos from warm countries in the evenings of the Lithuanian winter in social spaces were in a certain sense considered lazy or obscenely high earners. With the start of the pandemic, remote work has become "legal", smiles R. Dambytė.
So, the second day of the conference, February 25, will be dedicated to everyone who dreams of remote work, as well as those who would like to try a career as a freelancer. During five remote workshops, specialists in their field will help you find the courage and determination to pursue your dream, advise you on how to create a personal brand, a website, and how to make money as a freelancer.
The "Re!Work" conference will be held in English, virtually on February 24-25.
