Today, May 17, Vilnius turns into a large open stage - the city is hosting Street Music Day. This is a traditional celebration when musicians of all ages and styles take to the streets, squares, squares, or even public transport and invite passersby to immerse themselves in the whirlwind of musical sounds.
Street Music Day (GMD) brings together both professional performers and amateur music lovers – the most important thing is not the experience, but the desire to play and share sounds with the townspeople. With the sound of guitars, drums, electronics and even Lithuanian sutartinės, Vilnius becomes the capital of musical diversity.
The celebration has been held on the third Saturday of May since 2007, when its creator, Andrius Mamontovas, encouraged his friends to take to the streets of the capital. Today, GMD has become an international tradition.
"PEPSI STAGE" in Kudirka Square - an oasis of electronic music
Among the many performances, it is also worth visiting the "PEPSI STAGE" - you will find it in Kudirka Square. Energetic DJ performances will take place here all day long:

Festival of Unity of Nations "In the Valley of the Northern Lights" - in the Bernardine Garden
On the evening of Street Music Day, you are invited to a special event in the Bernardine Garden, where the festival of unity of nations "Northern Dawn Valley" will take place. Here, not only music, but also a diversity of cultures will come together.

"Drum2gether" – the culmination of the GMD in Cathedral Square
The final performance of the Street Music Day is the powerful "Drum2gether" improvisation. It is a mass drumming frenzy, uniting musicians and spectators into one turbulent vortex of rhythm. Anyone can join this performance - bring a drum, percussion or even a pot and embark on a common rhythmic adventure.

GMD isn't over until the Buzzards bounce back!
After the rhythm of the fiesta, the city invites you to stay up late - the nightly Dūzgės await at the Halle Market Square. Here, energetic performances will take place all night long for dance lovers.

In Vilnius, performances are planned in several dozen locations – from the streets of the Old Town to parks, from of the station district to the Neris embankments. In many places, the festival program will continue until late in the evening.
