The fragrant, green and sounding Herb Market returns to Vilnius once again! This time, the Vilnius Ethnic Culture Center will invite you to prepare for the rapidly approaching Rasas in the bustling Bernardinų Garden. Here on June 15, fairgoers will offer to purchase a variety of natural delicacies, and the day will be filled with music by Agota Zdanevičiūtė, the instrumental music band "Kotra", the improvisational music project "Project Prometheus", Vytautas V. Landsbergis, "RakijaKlezmerBand" and "Baltos varnos"!
The Herb Market is a revived 20th century Vilnius phenomenon, fostering the deep traditions of Rasai and the city of Vilnius, combining the ideas of an ecological lifestyle and folklore. Since, as the magical Rasai Night approaches, plants reveal their special properties, this is the most suitable time to enjoy the living, blooming and blooming nature and to stock up on the good things it provides. The Herb Market will traditionally sell herbs, flowers, spices, natural body care products, culinary products and folk art items.
In addition to the fair, visitors will also enjoy a rich cultural program: singing, traditional dances, lectures, craft workshops, games and other entertainment for both children and adults. In the workshop area, visitors to the Herb Market will have the opportunity to weave a flowering wreath, decorate their face with beautiful drawings or make a henna tattoo. Here, the curious will also be invited to "Zylės raižiniai", inspired by nature, telling authentic stories and promoting sustainability, inviting those who wish to try the delicate art of linocut. "Laukiniška" will offer a taste of delicacies found in forests, fields, meadows and the densest swamps, and in the evening, an incense workshop will fill the air with delicious aromas.
On the lawn next to the stage, children and their loved ones will be entertained by outdoor games and soap bubbles all day long. In the afternoon, the Vilnius folklore ensemble "Mindrė" and Audronė Daraškevičienė will invite you to sing, and traditional games and circles will help young visitors to the Žolynas Market to cool off. In the evening, naturalist Selemonas Paltanavičius will invite everyone to the educational event "In Search of City Nature".
In addition to the loud and danceable traditional music, sung poetry intertwined with folk songs, Klezmer melodies that take you to the Balkans, and the intertwining of contemporary music with folklore, the Žolyų turgaus stage will also feature lectures and conversations that enrich your knowledge. Rita Balkutė will reveal the secret of the fern flower, Dr. Asta Skujytė-Razmienė will introduce you to folk medicine, and Evelina Šimkutė, the head of the Public Institution "Kultūros dirbtuvė", co-creator of the initiatives "Šilainių sodai" and the educational programs "Nature in the City", will talk about natural initiatives in the city.
