St. On the occasion of Casimir's Day, the heavenly patron of Lithuania, the National Museum, the Palace of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania invites children to participate in the educational competition "King's St. Casimir's crown". Participants are offered to get acquainted with St. Casimir's story, make his crown, be immortalized with it and win valuable prizes.
"Every year, at the beginning of March, we invited families with children and all those interested to the Museum of the Palace of Lords to remember King Casimir, who was declared a saint. We used to talk with our friends about the family in which King Kazimierz grew up, how he was brought up, what he liked, what he was interested in, how many brothers and sisters he had, how their lives turned out. This year we cannot celebrate St. in the Kazimierz Day Museum, so we decided to hold an educational contest that would encourage people to take an interest in St. Casimir's story. We have also created a short story for children about this saint, anyone can download it from our website", says Laima Nosevičienė, educator of the Education Department of the Palace of the Lords Museum.
According to the educator, this time only minor children are invited to participate in the competition. Participating in the competition is very simple: you only need to familiarize yourself with the prepared short story about King Kazimierz, get inspiration from it, and create a St. Casimir's crown, immortalize it and send a photo to the museum.
For the convenience of the contestants, the sketch of the crown is already prepared and placed on the website of the Palace Museum: you just need to print it, cut out the details, decorate them with things you have at home (crystals, foil, beads, etc.), glue them and attach them to a wooden stick. An example of a ready-made crown can be seen next to this sketch. However, only the most beautiful crowns made by the children themselves and chosen by the commission - educators of the Palace of the Palace Museum - can win prizes in the competition.
"Since the king only had one crown, it was decided that one participant can create only one crown for the competition, but it can be immortalized in several photos," says L. Nosevičienė, adding that participants must remember to indicate their name, age and city.
The Museum of the House of Lords will wait for competitive works until 2021. March 12. The most original photos will be published on the website of the House of Lords Museum and on the museum's Facebook account. Prizes await the authors of the three most beautiful crowns - 2019. The story of Nelė Kostinienė, Živilė Mikailienė and Lina Itagaki "Vilniaus rūmai ir jiho maščiatai" was nominated as the most beautiful and best educational book of the year.
