This year, the international Corgi Race Vilnius is even more ambitious: event will take place for two days. On August 23, short-legged runners, their owners and thousands of four-legged fans will invade the capital's Vingis Park, and on August 24, Vilnius in the town hall square The World Corgi Meeting will be held at the "Portal" sculpture.
This year, four-legged friends from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Germany have already registered for the festival, and corgis from the UK are invited to "play" with their paws at the "Portal". Competitions, surprises, and an international "korg moment" await
On the first day of the event, corgi fans will traditionally gather In Vingo Park, where they will be able to enjoy their favorite events: "Corgi Race", "Solo Sprint" and the "Costume Parade", which surprises with its creativity every year. Also, spectators and participants will be able to enjoy two new competitions - "Coolest Bark" and "Puzzle" competitions. During the event, other sponsors and friends of the event will also offer surprises and attractions to spectators. There will also be plenty of places offering spectators, corgi owners and four-legged friends to enjoy various delicacies.
On the second day of the event, an extension of the event will take place in Vilnius Town Hall Square next to "Portal". There will be a small track where corgis will compete one-on-one, and at 14 p.m. Lithuanian time, a unique international meeting of four-legged friends will take place for the first time.
Corgis from Dublin, Lublin and Philadelphia are invited to gather at the “Portal” sculptures in their cities and realize a magical “corgi moment”. “This is an expression of the strong connection between the cities of the world and the communities of corgi lovers. Vilnius has a unique opportunity to bring together four-legged fans from different corners of the world and thus show once again that the joyful festive mood and love for corgis have no boundaries,” says event organizer Dovilė Bielousovaitė.
A growing festival with a global audience
The "Korgių Lenktynės" constantly strives to improve the experience of participants and spectators: last year, puppies competed safely and fun in the racing zone created near the Vingis Parks stage, and spectators could watch the matches from the stage itself. This year, the event will be filmed by a professional "Labas Krabas" team - four-legged fans will be able to cheer for their favorites while following the competition on a wide-format video screen.
"This is not just a race, but also a community celebration. Every year the number of participants and spectators grows. The most important thing is the joy and good emotions that we all share together," says Edvinas Miškas, the organizer of the four-legged race.
According to the event's creator, the list of countries represented by participants is also expanding every year. "We are very happy to see how the "Korgių lenktynės" has become not only a Vilnius tradition in a few years from a simple initiative of friends, but also an international festival, attracting participants and spectators not only from neighboring countries, but also from more distant countries - Germany or Italy. Last year's event was reported by "BBC", "Deutsche Welle", "FOX" and many other international channels. According to our sources, the message about the "Korgių lenktynės" reached as many as 300 million. audience worldwide, so we feel an even greater responsibility to create a high-quality and interesting festival for everyone.
