July 3 18 p.m. The former detention center (T. Kosciuškos St. 1) will host a discussion about art, society and the (im)possibility of free action, inspired by the one-piece exhibition "Beach" and recently Lukiškiai square open beach.
Discussions about the use of public spaces in the city, which have erupted these days, encourage us to reconsider the ways of giving meaning to historically important points. The appearance of the beach as an oasis of joy in the representative square of the capital, which has not found its authentic face for decades, expands the field of commemoration problems that have been discussed many times. Could there be a monument to joy in us? What images do we represent ourselves with? Which stories are we leaving in the margins of this image? What secrets of society lie buried deep under the sand of the beach?
During the discussion, we will talk about the work "Beach" by the artist Denis Kolomyckis and we will fragmentarily analyze the differences which confirm the limitation of actions in today's current affairs.
