The biggest celebration of the city of Vilnius has started - "Sostinės dienos 2020" (photos)

Today, in the most beautiful spaces of the city, the biggest celebration of the city, which has become a long-standing tradition, begins - the "Capital Days 2020" festival. In Gediminas Prospekt, Katedra, V. Kudirka and Lukiškiu Squares, in the park near the Lithuanian National Museum and in the new location of the event, on the Neris embankment at the White Bridge, a variety of culture, music will give you a great mood for up to three days events and memorable entertainment. In order to make the festival even more fun and to prevent a little rain from accidentally falling in, visitors are asked not to forget their umbrellas, clothes suitable for the autumn weather and, of course, a festive mood!

The program of the festival planned for September 4-6 has been adjusted this year due to the quarantine, and instead of the performances of foreign artists, the audience will see the most anticipated Lithuanian groups and music artists on the "Capital Days" stages, who will create evenings full of the best emotions.

"Vilnius is a city that nurtures community, where multicultural treasures preserved for centuries are open to everyone and whose long-standing traditions are created by each of us. It is one of the most advanced cities, setting an example for others when difficult situations require thoughtful actions or wise decisions. In the current circumstances, which the whole world is going through due to the coronavirus, we expect understanding, tolerance, attention and patience from the people of Vilnius and guests at the "Capital Days". We ask that you participate in the festival events wearing masks and take care not only of your own safety, but also that of your loved ones. Let's create a tradition of cozy and safe city holidays", invited Deputy Mayor of Vilnius Edita Tamošiūnaitė.

Vilnius residents and their friends who come to "Capital Days" will be able to get acquainted with the latest visual arts exhibitions, gourmet innovations, discover unique design and art works, see a unique 3D video projection on the water, visit various events and get a great mood for a long time.

Today at 17 p.m. the beginning of the festival will be solemnly announced by the MIA Representative Wind Orchestra on the stage at V. Kudirka Square. The promenade "Důzgiantis prospektas", a favorite of visitors to the long-standing festival, this year consists of "Street of Arts and Music", "Stilius location", "Gardių lauktuvių keli" and "Active leisure space" Lukiškiai square, will fulfill everyone's most whimsical needs.

Perhaps the most attention will be paid to the "Capital Days" in the heart of Lithuania, On the Cathedral Square, "Eurovision 2020" favorites "The Roop" and hip-hop music group "G&G Sindikatas" with the "Unplugged" program, and tomorrow, September 5, on the big stage, an exclusive gift for Vilnius residents - live audio and video concert, where the audience will be enchanted by the electronic music group "Happyendless" with well-known Lithuanian artists, and the culmination of the evening is a concert by Andrias Mamontov with the group.

"Sostinės dienos" presents new festival locations this year, inviting you to discover new experiences in the reconstructed space loved by Vilnius residents White bridge. On Friday and Saturday, from late evening until night, the audience gathered at the banks of the Neris River will be immersed in the 3D water projection "That spatial lightness of being". The program of the festival includes a number of other events, which will invite the people of Vilnius to take longer walks and help them to maintain greater distances and safer participation in the festival, much more than usual. One of these is the original installation "Birds of the City" by the artist Jurgis Pauliuks, which will spread across the modern business town located on Saltoniškių Street - in an open space between newly erected buildings of unique minimalist architecture. Only after dark, this installation will light up with a special lighting specially created for "Capital Days", which will work throughout the night. This spatial installation will invite everyone who wants to take pictures surrounded by more than 1200 birds.

On the first weekend of September, the "Capital Days" festival, which invites the people of Vilnius to spend together and celebrate life, full of various events, is preparing to present a unique, cheerful gift to each of us.

Attention! In accordance with the Government's latest requirements for events, audience registration will be mandatory for the Grand Concerts on the Cathedral Square and for the presentation of the 3D projection "That Spatial Lightness of Being".
