in 2018 October 3 it will be 560 years since St. Birth of Kazimierz (1458–1484). Piety of St. Kazimieris is inseparable from the international cultural ties that connected Lithuania with other Christian European states, and the heritage of the links has reached our days in the form of sacred works of art. Commemorating St. On the anniversary of Kazimierz's birth, the Church Heritage Museum of the Vilnius Archdiocese invites you to participate in free events, to get to know the patron saint of Lithuania and the history of his veneration.
St. Kazimierz, the second son of the Grand Duke of Lithuania and King of Poland Kazimierz Jogailaitis and Elžbieta Habsburgaitė, was born in Krakow. He was brought up as the future king of Lithuania and Poland and was distinguished by the traits of a great ruler - wisdom, justice, courage, but also piety, avoiding luxury, caring for the poor. Today, many places in Vilnius remind St. Kazimierz and the townspeople's respect for him.
