April 29 International Dance Day is celebrated. Vilnius City Dance Theater "Low Air" invites residents and guests of the capital to join and celebrate this day together with a dance step. Sunday, 17 p.m. an improvised march of professional and amateur dancers dedicated to the international project of Pina Bausch will move from Kudirka Square to Gediminas Avenue.
In France, Chile, Ireland, Spain and Germany, hundreds of townspeople joined the dance project. Together with professionals from their countries, they perform a special but simple choreography called "Nelken-Line", which is filmed and uploaded to the website of the dance master Pina Bausch's foundation.
Vilnius city dance theater "Low Air" and the dance school of the same name invite you to create a small celebration of movement in the capital and show the international community that we know how to celebrate dance in Lithuania.
"This project by Pina Bausch has attracted a lot of interest in many countries and is running for the second year. We want to encourage Lithuanians to join the global initiative," Low Air choreographer and dancer Airida Gudaitė invites us to celebrate International Dance Day together. "We want to encourage non-professionals to dance and move as well, maybe they haven't danced before, and it doesn't matter how old you are, what your job or physical preparation is - this Sunday is a great opportunity to try this new dance," - smiles Airida Gudaitė, one of the authors of the idea.
The choreography offered by the project is lines, a well-recognizable element of Pina Bausch's work. The line of people performing different gestures reminds of the choreographer's work "Nelken" published in 1982 - and the four seasons.

"All four seasons will be displayed on Gediminas Avenue in the capital. Here, every movement has its season. Spring - short grass, summer - tall grass and sun, autumn - falling leaves, winter - bitterly cold. How to say it without words? Only moving forward all year!" - Airida Gudaitė invites the townspeople to dance.
