During the Street Music Day held in the capital on Saturday, Vilnius residents and guests of the city were greeted by music on the way to the event. JSC "Communication services" gave the passengers a surprise - the cheerful performances of the mixed choir "ARTyn". Harmoniously moving choir performers traveled around Vilnius on bicycles, scooters, and rollerblades and entertained the townspeople for as many as 9 public transport at the bus stops and throughout the city.
"Street Music Day is one of those events in Vilnius that provides freedom for creativity, self-expression, pleasant and unexpected experiences in the city. We also do not miss the opportunity to become part of it for the third time and invite the residents of Vilnius, the guests of the capital, to the Round Music Day. Public transport is renewing itself at a record pace, and traveling by it has changed significantly. We want the citizens of Vilnius to travel by buses and trolleybuses not only faster and more comfortably, but we constantly try to surprise them and provide them with good experiences.
This year, the Rounded Music Day is different - performers move from buses and trolleybuses to public transport stops, and they move harmoniously around the city while trying out new bicycle and pedestrian paths. In this way, we join the Street Music Day not only by greeting passengers, but also encourage people to move around Vilnius by bicycle, move by scooter, and walk more," says Miglė Bielinytė, communications manager of Susisiekimos paslaugos SĮ.
From Saturday noon, passengers could meet the choir moving around the city and hear their performances at the following public transport stops: Riga, Press House, Teodoros Narbutos, Kęstutis, Lithuanian Sąjūdis kelios, Europa Square, Green Bridge, Karalias Mindaugas and Juoz Tumos-Vaizgant. This route of more than 10 kilometers was chosen so that it consisted of sections of newly built bicycle paths. Also - that the route includes those public transport stops where some of the largest passenger flows are recorded.
More than 20 choir performers moved through the streets of the city brightly and unitedly dressed - in JUDU t-shirts of the brand that unites all forms of mobility in the capital. The JUDU sign was presented in Vilnius a few days ago. This common name from now on "under one umbrella" combines movement by public transport, car, bicycle, scooter, foot and other modes of mobility. Citizens will gradually see JUDU in different places - for example, on city buses and trolleybuses, stops and cyclists on light boards, public transport screens, route diagrams, bicycle racks and emerging storage facilities will be marked, "Build and Ride", multimodal parking lots, JUDU is planned to be called a new electronic ticket system and other services related to mobility in Vilnius.
The first round of music day in the capital's renewed capital in public transport took place in 2018 in December, greeting passengers with live music performances on the occasion of the holidays. The street music day program has been participating since 2019, where concerts were organized on new buses and trolleybuses.
