The fifteenth Street Music Day begins (overview of events, program)

After a year's break, music is returning to city streets and squares - the fifteenth Street Music Day (GMD) is already today, July 16. The festival, which has been moved from the third Saturday of May to July for the second year in a row, will shake as many as 27 Lithuanian cities.

The theme of the anniversary 15th Street Music Day is "Sound was born". According to event organizer Viktorija Mamontovaitė, this year is extremely important for Street Music Day.

"Exactly 14 years ago, the first sounds of street music were born in Vilnius, which will be heard for the 15th time throughout Lithuania in July. The festival has already become an important and expected tradition of Lithuanian music. We want to loudly celebrate the birth of music and continue to raise young generations of musicians, for whom this festival is often the first step towards a professional career," says V. Mamontovaitė.

As every year, Street Music Day in Vilnius will start at 12 o'clock. All shows and map available on the GMD website or in the #walk15 app, whose creator, Vlada Musvydaitė, is happy with the new opportunity to combine cultural and active leisure time. "While fostering the culture of walking, we also aim to foster cultural discoveries, getting to know new places and experiences. For this reason, we are happy that the mobile app "#walk15" has become a platform that allows users to conveniently and easily discover all "Street Music Day" performances in their city, thus providing an opportunity not only to get new experiences and great emotions, but also to take a meaningful walk." - says V. Musvydaitė.

The program organized by the bars "BIX" and "šPUNKa", the lineup of performers of the Night Vilnius Avilis, members of the Vieniš Vilkos Club, have not disappeared from the map of Vilnius Street Music Day. The program also included new places opening up for street musicians: Paupio district and Markučių square.

Music will also be played at the capital's transport stops

On the day of the event, not only the streets of the capital will ring, but also public transport stops. The JUDU team is joining the celebration in Vilnius for the fifth time - "Communication services", whose friends the choir "ARTyn" will surprise Vilnius residents and city guests moving around Vilnius by bus, trolleybus, bicycle, scooter, and on foot with unexpected performances.

"Performers at public transport stops will present not only the sounds of songs, but also music that is created using various body movements. Choristers will move in harmonious circles - bicycles, and sounds, movement in the city and body percussion will merge into a whole. We invite everyone to become a part of it and move together", says Miglė Bielinytė, communication manager of "Susiasiekimos ustuštvo".

You will meet the choristers singing and moving in harmonious circles on July 17, from 12:15 to XNUMX:XNUMX. at various public transport stops located in the center of Vilnius: Rinktinė, Karalias Mindaugas tilto, Arkikatedra, Vincos Kudirka Square, Juozo Tumos-Vaižgant, Verslo Triangle.

Special holiday coffee in Caffeine cafes

During the celebration, don't miss the opportunity to taste the "Street Music Lover's Cappuccino" coffee specially created for the fifteenth anniversary of the Street Music Day, which you can find in all Lithuanian Caffeine cafes. LRT Opus will broadcast special shows

LRT OPUS will invite you to meet in K. Sirvydas Square - "Prančasparki". Here, listeners can enjoy special shows:

at 19 p.m. "Potion". The guest of the show, Palmės Žiedas, will recreate Gabrielė Vilkickytė's work during the live broadcast, and the authors of the show, Gytis Judys and Ignas Klejus, promise many conversations about music and its creative processes.

21 p.m. "LRT OPUS CLUB". The author of the show, Tomas Lukaševičius, will take care of the sun escort ceremony by immersing himself in a selection of broken rhythms, which will set you up for long nights. The live broadcast can be heard on LRT OPUS and watched on the portal LRT.lt

Music returns to the library of Adam Mickevičius

Adam Mickevičius Library again joins Street Music Day with a colorful and interesting program. The library courtyard will ring from 14.00:XNUMX p.m. A concert will be started by the group Tomorrow Inshallah, whose members Rūta Jančiukaitė (vocals, guitar) and Nerijus Laukaitis (rhythms, trombone, keyboard instruments) will perform live reggae/dub/stepper style music inspired by trips in an orange bus.

Next, the old-time music-loving band "Midnight Special", whose members Andrius (acoustic guitar, vocals), Gražina (violin, vocals), Julius (acoustic bass, vocals) and Lukas (mandolin, vocals) will play the bluegrass genre for the audience. music - songs that tell about people's lives. The band "Celsijus" and its members Marija Vasiliauskaitė (vocals), Dominykas Kerpė (keyboards), Ignas Čeponis (guitar), Jokūbas Taločka (bass), Dominykas Puzinas will end the day of street music in the library yard with the sounds of funk, rap, pop, disco or jazz genres. (drums, vocals).

Drum2gether - Cathedral Square

Vilnius Street Music Day would not be complete without the very important, already traditional, “Drum2gether” drum improvisation. GMD crowning thunderous mass drum improvisation at 20.00:XNUMX PM On the Cathedral Square will unite musicians and spectators into one turbulent rhythmic frenzy.

Street music day will be heard throughout Lithuania

Events will be held not only in Vilnius, GMD will be celebrated in a dozen other Lithuanian cities: Akmenė district, Alytus, Biržai, Druskininkai, Elektrėnai, Gargždai, Jonava, Jurbarka, Beautiful, Klaipėda, in Kupiški, Marijampole, Obelii, Pagėgii, Panevėžys, Prienai, Radviliški, Rietave, Šeduva, Šiauliai, Šilalė, Šilute, Širvinti, Taurage, Telšiai, Varnii, Vievii, Vilkaviški, Vilkija, Visagina. Different programs are planned for each city and can be found on the GMD website.

Andrius Mamontovas is happy with the ongoing celebration

The author of the initiative, Andrius Mamontovas, is happy that the Street Music Day is still alive and invites you to fill the city streets with music once again. "Street Music Day has been going on for fourteen years thanks to all the enthusiastic participants, which will be held for the fifteenth time this year. It's hard to believe. Thank you to everyone who contributes to this celebration", says A. Mamontovas.

Street Music Day started in 2007 at the initiative of Andrias Mamontov, when he sent invitations to his friends by e-mail to go outside and play in the streets of the capital. Since then, this day has not only become a significant tradition in Lithuania, but has also spread to other countries. Over the past 15 years, Street Music Day has been independently organized by Norway, Belgium, Ukraine, Russia, Latvija, Belarus, Holland, Georgia, Armenia and Ireland
