The first ice skating or curling day in Vilnius will take place in the Ice Arena of the largest shopping and entertainment center in the Baltic States. From 10 o'clock in the morning until 19 p.m. in the evening, everyone who wants to can try the gambling of stone melting free of charge with the help of instructors.
"Curling is a fun sport that combines physical and mental skills. Also, this is one of the few sports in which everyone can compete, regardless of their age, gender or ability, so on Friday at the "Acropolis" Ice Arena, we will be waiting for families, groups of friends, like-minded people, everyone who wants to try something new", said General Secretary of the Lithuanian Curling Association Vygantas Zalieckas.
Those who want to try the stone rink are invited to register in advance on the website of the Lithuanian Curling Association at www.kerlingas.lt. All necessary sports equipment, as well as special ice-sliding shoe soles, will be provided by the Ice Skating Day organizers. When choosing clothes and shoes, it is advised not to forget that the classes will take place in the Ice Arena, so you should have comfortable and slightly warmer shoes for changing, clothing that does not restrict movement. Outerwear should be multi-layered - it may seem cold at first, but once you learn how to rub ice, it becomes warm.
After the renovation of the Vilnius "Acropolis" Ice Arena, three ice-melting paths have been marked in it, and special refrigeration equipment has been purchased to store the stones.
"Akropolis" Ice Arenas became a powerful impetus for the popularization of ice hockey in Lithuania - many members of the national teams started playing sports here. I believe that, together with the curling association, we will also interest people in this fun sport," said Eglė Valiukienė, manager of Vilnius Akropolis.
