July 27 The gourmet burger festival "Vilnius Burger Fest" will take place in Vilnius for the third time. Attracting several thousand lovers of good food event this year will attract an even larger number of participants, burgers prepared only once a year and a special auction of this dish.
Gourmet (French gourmet) the burger festival unites enthusiasts of quality food who pay special attention to the preparation of burgers. Gourmet burgers differ from those presented in fast food establishments by the quality and fresh products used, preparation methods, clever combination of ingredients and aesthetic presentation.
"The thing about burgers as a dish is that it's like a block game. There are many options of what and how to prepare it. Naturally, in such a sphere, various fads come and go. For example, a popular ingredient at the Vilnius Burger Fest last year was long-cooked meat.
This year it may be the other way around - vegetarian burgers will be popular. However, we will find out as the festival approaches, when the participants will start presenting only the burgers prepared for this celebration. We know from experience that the taste surprises will not last long, because the imagination of Lithuanian chefs is limitless", said one of the initiators of the festival, restaurant Drama Burger representative Simas Slabačiauskas.
According to S. Slabačiauskas, one of the surprises for visitors should be the auction of a specially prepared burger. However, the organizers promise to reveal what kind of burger it will be, who will prepare it and how many units will be auctioned only during the week of the event.
About 17 Lithuanian restaurants, bars and dessert makers will participate in the Vilnius Burger Fest this year. Both old-timers and newcomers expressed their intentions to join the festival. Currently, participation has been confirmed by Boom! Burgers, White Elephants, Chiop Chiop and Peri Peri Restas, Drama Burger, Foxes Burger & Lobster, Ice Dunes, Cow and Chicken, Le Butcher, Marsas , Meat Lover's Pub, Piano Man, North Sea and Pancho.
The gourmet burger fashion wave reached Lithuania five years ago. In Vilnius, and later in other cities of Lithuania, specialized burger joints began to be created in abundance, this dish was added to the menu by others restaurants, there have even been blogs dedicated to the mere experience of tasting burgers.
Interest in quality burgers was also reflected in the "Vilnius Burger Fest" event. in 2015 it was visited by 6000 people, and last year - over 7000. Food connoisseurs are especially attracted by the opportunity to taste unique burgers that are prepared only once a year: this is exactly the condition that all festival participants adhere to.
In the world, the gourmet burger movement started a couple of decades ago, when culinary masters realized that a burger can be prepared from wholesome, fresh or exotic products. The burger has become the subject of experiments by famous and novice chefs, and specialty restaurants have captured the attention of diners and food critics.
The festival "Vilnius Burger fest" will be held at "Piano Man Outside" (courtyard of the Lithuanian Theater, Cinema and Music Museum). Entrance to the festival is free.
