On Friday, May 6, VilniusTech Creative Industries third-year students' non-traditional project "Discover sleeping districts" will start. These are three playful routes of the sleeping districts of the city of Vilnius - Pašilaičiai, Viršuliškii and Justiniškii - with the aim of breaking the stereotype about micro-districts.
Residents of the city are invited to discover the microdistricts already this weekend (May 6-9). Those who want to participate can choose from three educational routes, those who like challenges can choose all three. The task of the participants is to visit the locations and find all the stickers. Each route consists of 6 locations "describing" the district, marked with the #atraskMR sticker. #atraskMR stickers are special - on them, participants will find QR codes that will allow them to get to know the marked place more deeply. However, you will have to find them yourself, since the route maps will only show the coordinates of the locations.
In order to participate, citizens of Vilnius must fill out the participation form. In order to encourage activity - all participants who have fulfilled the specified conditions will apply for symbolic prizes - thermos cups provided by the project partner UAB BALTASIS ARAS. Also, to make it more comfortable and warmer to walk around the districts, the participants will have the opportunity to purchase a hot drink, which was provided by J. Gulbinienė's company in Pashilaičiai for a symbolic price.
With this intervention, the students want to draw attention to the well-established opinion that there are no attractive places in the sleeping areas that encourage walking and spending time closer to home. It has become common that all residents of the city of Vilnius, looking for activities, gravitate to the heart of the city, without thinking that interesting places can also be found in their residential microdistrict. Over time, walks in the city center become like a normal routine that no longer brings new sensations. Initiative
"Discover sleeping areas" invites Vilnius residents to change their attitude and get to know the places where they live.
The authors of the project are students of Vilnius Tech Creative Industries - Sabina Vincel, Gabija Žiūkaitė, Agnė Sadauskaite, Emilija Svilaitė and Akvilė Urbonavičiūtė.
