From May 1 until October 1, every day at 13 and 19.15:XNUMX p.m., the largest Vilnius carillon in central Europe will sound for Vilnius residents and guests of the city. Church of the Apostles Philip and James. Everyone concert will last up to 15 minutes.

in 2015 61 bells were consecrated and a large concert 5-octave bell was installed. Each bell is a separate note. St. Jacob's carillon is the largest and most modern not only in Lithuania, but also in the Baltic region. It was designed, cast and installed by Royal Eijsbouts, one of the world's oldest and most famous bell foundries in Asten, Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Some of the carillon bells have names that commemorate the history of the Dominican Order. St. Dominic is dedicated to the founder of the order, St. George - to the founder of the church and monastery, St. Christopher - for the city of Vilnius, St. Jonas - for the restorer of the order Br. To Jonas D. Grigaičius, St. Philip and James - for the title of the church, etc. The largest - the bell of the Mother of God of Lukiškii - weighs 3360 kg, the smallest - 8 kg.

The Vilnius carillon is one of the rarest musical instruments with powerful sound and unique structural properties. Bells are arranged in accordance with the chromatic harmony and have different volumes and weights.
