Lithuanian and Ukrainian design creators settled in Lukiškiau prison 2.0 for the whole weekend. During the "Smart Pop Up" event, different spaces perform different functions, so guests are invited until Sunday evening to discover the works of relevant designers, participate in free lectures, get to know the artists live and spend their free time meaningfully in the center of the capital.
During the "Smart Pop Up" event, the creators settled in the walking yards of the Lukiški prison, which were opened to the public for the first time, and St. On Saturday, educational activities will be held in the space of Mikalojus Stebukladaris Church.
"We are proud that this time we can surprise the guests of the event and the design community with an exceptional location. Local designers and Ukrainian creators will present their works, in which sustainability becomes an important focus, in the conceptual space of the Lukiškii prison, which is being opened for the first time - in the walking yards. This is a unique opportunity to interact live with the creators in a historical context. Meanwhile, educational classes, dedicated to both design professionals and beginning creators, will be held on Saturday in the open space of the church," says Erika Paulė, the organizer of the event and the founder of the "popup.lt" platform.
The Lukiški prison 2.0 team, which has joined forces with "popup.lt", emphasizes that all four days of the event will allow Vilnius residents and city guests to have a meaningful time in the authentic space of the capital, enjoying quality food, various activities, conversations and music.
"We care about sustainability, so we want to contribute to the idea of sustainable fashion and design." On the opening weekend, the performance of the British stars "Jungle" is still waiting for us, "Vilniushyvanka", the day of Ukraine organized by "Go Vilnius", is designed to welcome us and allow us to get to know the culture of our country better for Ukrainians. There are also special walks around Lukiške, a nightly DJ program in the prison ring, music, movie screenings on a big screen, a table football tournament, an open-air bar, good food and much more. We promise that if you visit the prison on the weekend, you won't want to leave it", says Rūta Giniūnaitė, project coordinator of Lukiškės prison 2.0.
During Smart Pop Up, St. On the first floor of Mikalojus Stebukladaris Church - on the way to the education-lecture space - it will be possible to get acquainted with the exposition of the project "365utopia" by I. Maldaus, R. Žigonios and S. Mankevičius.
