December 23 Vokiečių st. 13A, a virtual gallery "Cyber Spot" is being opened in the courtyard in Vilnius, where ten works of Lithuanian 3D artists will be presented with the help of augmented reality technologies.
The exhibition will feature the works of Eligijus Povilauskas, Mantas Kuginis, Rimos Berlinskas and Ryšard Žavoronok, which are connected by urban themes - city symbols are examined, futuristic scenarios are created, connections between alternative realities and history are interpreted, and everyday phenomena are mystified.
The artists' work will be presented in a mobile application specially created for the project, which will incorporate virtual elements into the real world using augmented reality technology. After downloading the free Cyber Spot app, scanning the QR code with it and pointing the smart device at one of the markers in the gallery, the visitor will see a three-dimensional artwork, its description and brief information about the creator.
"Augmented reality technology allows you to liberate three-dimensional works from a flat form, moving them into a full-fledged three-dimensional space. This allows them to be viewed from everyone and changes the visitor's relationship with the work itself," says Tomas Kadevič, curator of the exhibition. According to the organizers of the project, artists who create 3D works are not widely known in Lithuania due to insufficient opportunities to exhibit their works, so this project aims to draw attention to the use of new technological opportunities in art and enable the imagination of the audience in the exhibition of the fusion of works of art and reality.
The free Cyber Spot gallery will be open to visitors until 2022. January 31
