On July 5, the Money Museum of the Bank of Lithuania presented to visitors a new exhibition "Take and remember - Vilnius and its memory in numismatics and bonistics", dedicated to the 700th anniversary of the capital of Lithuania. The organizers of the exhibition admit that placing the most impressive exhibit of the exhibition, weighing as much as several tens of kilograms, in the exposition did not shy away from challenges.
"Vilnius is a city with which everyone in Lithuania - both individuals and communities or institutions - has their own relationship. Bank of Lithuania as well.
As early as the interwar period, Lithuania consolidated the connection of the country's central financial institution with the capital, and in 1990, after regaining independence, the name of Vilnius was mentioned for the first time in the Law of the Bank of Lithuania. However, this mutual connection is embodied not only by legal acts, but also by the success story of Vilnius itself.
The growth and prosperity of the city is unimaginable without the successful operation of the central bank. Therefore, the Bank of Lithuania is celebrating the anniversary of Vilnius together.
This exhibition is our gift to the city of Vilnius. We invite you to see it differently - through numismatics and bonistics. Vilnius residents and guests of the city can visit the exhibition, as well as our entire museum, for free", says one of the organizers of the exhibition, historian Karolis Tumelis.
