In Vingo Park, a Neris exhibition has been installed on the path near the Žvėrynas pedestrian bridge. While walking in Vingis Park, we often do not think about the Neris River flowing right next to it and the life that thrives in and around it. We invite you to take a walk along the Vingis Park route along the Neris River, which will allow you to get acquainted with the rare and impressive fish and birds living in the Neris River and its surroundings, as well as learn interesting facts about the Neris River itself and its history.
The aim of the exhibition is to introduce Vilnius residents and guests to the city's river, show its uniqueness and importance for the city and nature, and draw people's attention to the importance of protecting Vilnius' rivers. The exhibition features texts on various river topics: the great Vilnius flood, mythological stones, shipping, fish diversity, bird diversity, etc.
In 2023, Darnu Group conducted a comprehensive study of the Neris River, which revealed that the Neris is not only less polluted than previously thought, but also a haven for endangered bird and fish species. Abundant wildlife can be found not only in the suburbs of Vilnius, but also in the section of the Neris located in the very center of the capital and on its banks.
The initiator of the exhibition is the "Sustainable Initiatives Support Fund" managed by UAB "Darnu Group". The "Sustainable Initiatives Support Fund" prepares and organizes various programs and projects that contribute to the implementation of social and civic initiatives, organizes training and educational activities, and provides support in accordance with the procedure established by the legal acts of the Republic of Lithuania. In pursuit of sustainable urban development, the Fund conducts various studies aimed at discovering opportunities for urban growth, monitoring bad practices and changing them, and educating the public.
