There are two types of news, good and bad. It usually starts with a bad one: May 8. the international exhibition "1 Steps: The Amber Road from Rome to the Baltic" is closing. The good news is May 000. the youngest branch of the Lithuanian National Museum House of stories is celebrating his second birthday. On that day, the staff of the House of Stories invites you to visit exhibitions, take part in excursions or come and eat a piece of cake that will be served to visitors.
"1 Steps: The Amber Road from Rome to the Baltic"
It is probably the biggest international exhibition that Lithuanian National Museum has organized in cooperation with the Lithuanian National Art Museum. The author of the idea and one of the curators is the head of LNM dr. Rūta Kačkutė. She curated the exhibition with the head of the LNDM Amber Museum, dr. Sigita in Bagužaite-Talačkien. By collaborating, the scientists united not only these two institutions - the exhibition brought works from six more national museums and ten foreign museums.
The curators had a difficult task - to tell the story in an engaging and relevant way, so that it would be interesting not only for representatives of the academic field, but also for every visitor. After all, scientific information can often remain mute and dry, let alone a listener or viewer without detailed scientific training. Their efforts paid off - the exhibition became one of the most popular among all the exhibitions of the National Museum of Lithuania, and the visitors did not spare nice words. Here is a visitor from the South African House of Stories staff, where the exhibition is located, was happy that the optimized exhibition space offers both a picture of the whole, an opportunity to understand the idea of the exhibition, and the pleasure of interpretation; that this exhibition is a work of art in itself. After visiting the exhibition, the boy decided that he wanted to be an exhibition consultant when he grew up. These are just a few fragments of the visitors' impressions, and after all, the visitors breathe life into the exhibitions and create additional meanings.
Before closing the exhibition, the curators once again invite you to tours: Rūta Kačkutė, the head of LNM, will lead the tour on May 3. at 18 p.m., and the head of the Amber Museum, Sigita Bagužaitė-Talačkienė - on May 5. at 15 p.m.
