September 7 The conference "Lituvių a soldier in the armies of the world". It crowns several months of research by scientists, which took place at the "Unpacking!" exhibition. At the conference, all the reports given by the scientists will be related to warfare - exactly what they have been collecting for many years JAV Henry Gaidis, who lives and has Lithuanian roots and who donated an impressive military collection to Lithuania.
"At the end of 2020, the exceptional collection dedicated to the history of warfare, accumulated by Henri Lazarus Gaidis throughout his life, reached Lithuania. At that time, more than 60 boxes arrived at the National Museum of Lithuania, and the procedures for receiving and describing the exhibits took more than a year, and the collections were supplemented by almost 8 items. values. The collection is presented to the public at the exhibition "Izpakuojam!", which stands out for the fact that visitors could not only see the exclusive exhibits here for several months, but also meet the researchers studying them right here in the exhibition space. The exhibition, the exhibits on the topic of warfare and the research of scientists on this topic became the impetus for organizing the conference", says the historian of the Lithuanian National Museum, conference organizer Dr. Ina Ėmužienė.
In ten presentations, researchers will present various topics: they will introduce the memoirs of Lithuanian officers and soldiers about their participation in the Independence struggles in 1918-1920, looking at the war through the prism of feelings, people's communication and attitude towards each other (Dr. Aušra Jurevičiūtė); will review the military training of women shooters in Lithuania in the 3th century. in the 4s and 7s (Dr. Mindaugas Nefs); will present the hitherto little-studied biography of the officer, Colonel of the General Staff Kazios Grinias, son of President Kazios Grinias (Prof. Dr. Jonas Vaičenonis); will analyze the efforts of the interwar Lithuanian military aviation in order to prepare a reserve of pilots necessary for the war (Dr. Mindaugas Sereičikas); will examine the causes of deaths in the interwar Lithuanian army, and will use data from the XNUMXth infantry regiment of Duke of Žemaicai Butegeidis (doc. Dr. Vytautas Jokubauskas) for the analysis of the case; will reveal what stories about Lithuanian men and their experiences in the Soviet army were found in the so-called photo albums of the so-called scumbag (Dr. Ieva Šimanauskaitė); will tell about Lithuanians who served in the armies and paramilitary organizations of other countries at various times (Darius Zubrickas); will examine voluntary and involuntary Lithuanian army cooperation of officers in the 5th century In the 6s and 1908s with the security services of foreign countries (Dr. Darius Juodis); the military experience of Adolf Damušis (2003-XNUMX), a chemist, social activist and participant in the resistance to the Soviet and Nazi occupations, will also be presented (Dr. Ilona Strumickienė) and, of course, it will be reviewed the collection of a former FBI agent, shown in the exhibition "Unpacking!" (Tadas Šėma).
The conference will be moderated by Giedrė Milerytė-Japertienė, Tadas Šėma, Ina Ėmužienė, historians of the National Museum of Lithuania. Conference participants at 18 p.m. will be invited to take part in a tour of the exhibition "Unpacking!"
