Lithuanian Art Museum Tuesday, October 22, 18 p.m. A new long-term exhibition "Masterpieces of 3th Century Fashion" is opening at the Museum of Applied Arts and Design (Arsenalo St. 2020A), where collector Aleksandras Vasilijevas presents the century of world fashion to the Lithuanian public, reveals the changes in fashion and the most important moments of its development (the exhibition will be open until August 30, XNUMX d.). The exhibition will be opened by the owner of the collection, Aleksandras Vasiljevas, and the director of the Lithuanian Art Museum, Arūnas Gelūnas.
The Lithuanian Art Museum, in cooperation with the Aleksander Vasilijev Foundation, organized the twelfth exhibition of the collection of the famous fashion historian Aleksander Vasilijev. It is dedicated to the century of global fashion. While viewing the exhibition, visitors can observe the huge changes in fashion that took place throughout the XNUMXth century. The exhibition is divided into sections reflecting the most important moments of fashion development.
Belle Epoque the period is revealed not only through the unique creations of famous European and American designers, but also through various luxury accessories of that time - hats, shoes, fans, handbags and jewelry. Presented at the exhibition Worth. Doucet, Fortuny, Poiret masterpieces of fashion houses. A special place in the exposition is occupied by the section that tells about art deco the development of the style, which is related to the first independence of Lithuania. The characteristics of this style are revealed during the demonstration Lanvin, Patou, Callot Soeurs and clothing of other recognized fashion houses.
The next chapter covers the period of the Second World War, inseparable from the greatest difficulties, losses and a fundamental change in the style of clothing.
Christian Dior became the revolutionary who returned femininity to fashion. His original works, created new-look style, are also presented in the exhibition alongside the works of Pierre Balmain and Jacques Fath, Dior's main competitors.
The exposition also reflects the 7th century. Stylistics of postmodernism and futurism of the XNUMXth decade. This period is characterized by dreams of space conquest, expressed in the works of Pierre Cardin, Andre Couregges and Paco Rabanne.
The return to nature, interest in Indian philosophy and travel to exotic countries finds an echo in the chapter dedicated to the 8th century. For the 9s and the hippie aesthetic. And the XNUMXs, famous for the development of glamorous trends and the creation of the image of a strong woman, are illustrated Givenchy, Ungaro, Yves Saint-Laurent, Oleg Cassini and models of other fashion houses.
In the last historical section of the exposition and the final part of the 10th century. the XNUMXth decade becomes the period of fashion development. This is the period associated with the birth of the grunge style and the return to minimalism, especially popular at the end of the last century.
In total, the exhibition presents one hundred models of men's and women's clothing, as well as up to three hundred accessories, photographs and portraits.
