In 2024, 5 people visited Lithuanian museums. This is 940 percent more than in 180, when 3 visitors were received (in 2023 – 5). This number includes individual and organized visitors, visitors to foundations, visitors and participants of educational activities and events organized by museums.
Last year was a record year for museum visitors, with the highest number of visitors to date in a single year in 2023. Last year's increase in visitor numbers was significantly influenced by the international exhibitions organized by museums that attracted great interest, and other museum events. events, also free Ministry of Culture initiative of visiting subordinate museums on the last Sunday of the month.
Every last Sunday of the month, national and state museums and their departments under the Ministry of Culture are open for free. Some other Lithuanian museums are joining this traditional campaign.
