From Tuesday, the capital's gallery "Meno Niša" invites you to the exhibition of the participants of the eighth international enamel biennale "Vilnius 2020". In it, visitors will be able to see the enamel works of 30 artists - jewelry, metal and sculpture objects, which came from Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain and Georgia.
"Since the beginning, hundreds of enamel art artists from more than 30 countries of the world have participated in the biennial of enamel art "Vilnius", said Diana Stomienė, the manager of the gallery "Meno niša", which has been operating for nineteen years.
Marytė Dominaitė, the long-time curator of the biennale, jeweler, also emphasized that the international enamel biennale glorifies the city of Vilnius and the Goldsmiths' Guild, which celebrates its 525th anniversary this year.
The works of 2020 artists were selected to participate in the international enamel biennale "Vilnius 30". They were evaluated and the laureates were chosen by an international commission of experts.
According to the decision of the evaluation committee, long-time participant of the biennale Šarūnė Žygienė was awarded for new ideas in enamel art, Neringa Poškutė-Jukumienė for a conceptual enamel work, and Mantvydas Lasinskas was awarded for the traditional use of enamel technique. With the thanks of the mayor of Vilnius, Dovilė Žydelienė was awarded for the combination of amber and enamel, Marytė Dominaitė for the relevance of the idea, the award for the brightest debut went to the Georgian artist Nikoloz Gamkhitashvili.
The gallery "Meno niša", which organizes the enamel biennale, works according to the program of fine crafts and fairs in Vilnius. The project is financed by the Lithuanian Council of Culture.
