The best Lithuanian and international art galleries and artists meet once a year at the contemporary art fair "ArtVilnius". October 13-15Litexpo", the ongoing fair invites art galleries to submit applications.
The art fair "ArtVilnius'23" will be held for the fourteenth time in the exhibition and congress center "Litexpo". 12 thousand sq. meters of Litexpo spaces every year enables the architects of the fair to plan modern stand placement solutions, the participating galleries get a large 2849 sq. meter area.
Last year's art fair "ArtVilnius" was attended by 70 art galleries and institutions, 320 artists from 18 countries of the world (Ukraine, Germany, Estonia, Latvija, Lithuania, France, Belarus, Denmark, Poland, Sweden, Sakartvel, Netherlands etc). A similar number of participating galleries is planned to be selected by the selection committee of the fair this year as well.
"ArtVilnius'23" maintains its format and, next to the main program of art galleries, presents the Projects zone with the collections of world-famous artists, museums and art funds and institutional expositions (curator Valentinas Klimašauskas). The exhibition of sculptures, installations and performances "Takas" (curator Vytenis Burokas) will be open. The tradition of collecting the best galleries and artists will be continued, the LRT studio will organize a program of discussions, lectures, talks and other additional events.
"We want to invite all active Lithuanian and foreign art galleries to participate in the selection for the art fair "ArtVilnius'23". We are also very much looking forward to applications from recently established galleries, for which ArtVilnius is a great opportunity to be seen in an international art context, we offer them special conditions," said Diana Stomienė, head of ArtVilnius and president of the Association of Lithuanian Art Gallerists.
Every year "ArtVilnius" has a certain theme - emphasis, this year's theme - performativity. The context of the art fair will provide an opportunity to look at the concept of performativity openly and creatively, it will allow to talk about performativity and the broadest interpretations of this term associated with it. The organizers of "ArtVilnius'23" emphasize that the theme of performativity for galleries is only an offer to contribute to the development of the theme of the fair; all media are traditionally welcome at the fair: painting, graphics, drawings, sculpture, video art, photography, installations, etc.
