Baltic youth orchestra "Kremerata Baltica" in 1997. founded by the legendary violinist Gidon Kremer. Musicians from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia play in the world-renowned and award-winning ensemble, so the coronavirus pandemic has severely shaken his usual routine. The orchestra, which organizes about 60 concerts during the season, and does not always have time to unload its bags in the heat of the tour, this year had to forget general rehearsals for a while and cancel the planned concerts. However, the work already done has not been forgotten - recently the collective was nominated for the "OPUS Klassik 2020" awards, the winners of which will be announced in October in Berlin.
Even without being able to meet, the members of "Kremerata Baltica" tried to maintain optimism, use a sense of humor, and inspire good mood in their fans. This is evidenced by a smile-inducing video created during the quarantine, in which Mieczysław Weinberg's moody composition "Boniface's Holiday" is performed, and on April 1. presenting it online, the musicians urged everyone to be healthy, happy and stay at home. The same creative and optimistic approach to the forced pause generated the idea to perform with a smaller composition, that is, to unite the Lithuanians playing in the "Kremerata Baltica" orchestra:
"In order not to lose the identity of the orchestra, to remain creative, in the spring, when it was impossible to cross the border, I personally suggested that the musicians gather in two Kremerata Baltica soloist ensembles and take up active concert activities in the summer in Latvia and in Lithuania", the artistic director of the orchestra, Gidonas Kremer, tells about the idea that arose.
From other chamber orchestras in the world, this collective stands out for its distinctive feature - the conceptuality of the programs and their extremely masterful performance. This will undoubtedly be noted as well concert At the Kristupas summer festival, the musicians will perform a program characterized by summer lightness, in which the compositions of V. Poleva, P. Glass, O. Golijov, E. Morricone, and M. Richter will sound.
