The Vilnius Light Festival is a celebration of art, technology and bright light, and it is a welcome tradition of the capital's birthday. Taking place for the sixth time event, congratulating Vilnius on its 701st anniversary, will continue until January 28.
Light is used to celebrate the most important moments. Every year, the Vilnius Light Festival creates an inspiring celebration in the city and congratulates the capital city on its birthday by presenting a new light art exhibition lasting several days. This year, citizens of Vilnius and guests of the city will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the works of its participants, creators relevant in the world, in which creativity, modern art and technology merge, from January 25 to 28, every evening from 18 to 23 p.m.
"The Festival of Lights is a unique expression of cultural diversity, presenting the ideas of artists from various countries, unique projects and artistic innovations, and promoting international cultural exchange and dialogue," says Paulius Jurgutis, director of the Vilnius Culture Center, the organizer of the Vilnius Light Festival.
This year the capitals in the old town in the created gallery of modern light art, visitors will see two dozen works of the VI Vilnius Light Festival - 15 light installations in the main program and 5 additional objects. Each of them will tell their own unique story. Thousands of Vilnius residents and guests of the capital will be waiting for famous buildings, churches, galleries, squares and courtyards lit up with festival lights. The objects of this art exhibition are created by artists from Lithuania, France, Poland, Great Britain and the Netherlands.
Almost two dozen different festivals are held in Vilnius during the year that glorify the name of the city of Vilnius, but the Festival of Lights is the only one that combines light art, music, and the possibilities of modern technologies. Despite the young age of the festival, the ambitious event can already be proud of interesting, quality and solid content, famous, world-famous guests, great reviews and thousands of fans. In the last five years, 91 projects from 18 countries of the world were presented in the main program of the Vilnius Light Festival.
