On May 8, the first Vilnius Spring Festival of the year will take place at the National Gallery of Art. concert, which will mark the beginning of the festival with a strong rhythmic impulse! On the opening night of the festival, three outstanding percussion masters from the Baltic States will meet on stage – Andrius Rekašius (Lithuania), Guntars Freibergs (Latvija) and Heigo Rosin (Estonia). In 2023, they formed the ensemble "Baltic Percussion Trio", whose performances have already captivated the audience in the Baltic countries, and now it is time to present their program to Lithuanian listeners for the first time.

"This concert is a great opportunity to rediscover percussion. It's not just rhythm, but also melody, emotion, and unexpected combinations of sounds that will engage and surprise you. Whether you are a classical music lover or just a curious listener, this expressive concert will leave a strong impression and allow you to immerse yourself in a completely unique musical world," announces Nerijus Masevičius, the festival's program organizer and initiator.

The Baltic Percussion Trio concert will be dedicated to contemporary music from the Baltic States, featuring compositions representing the musical face of all three countries in the region. It is a concert that will intertwine mastery, the courage of contemporary music, and an authentic sonic narrative led by percussion, a powerful yet subtle force of music.

"This concert is very special for us – not only because it is an opportunity for three musicians from different Baltic countries to meet and share what is important to us through sound, but also because it is our first concert in Lithuania! The program is very diverse: some pieces will pulsate with energy, others with peace. The program will also feature original percussion pieces by famous composers, which will reflect the musical spirit of the Baltic countries. We hope that people will leave the concert not only with impressions of the sounds, but also with that difficult to explain feeling that remains when music really touches them," - about the upcoming a concert Andrius Rekašius tells the story.

All three members of the Baltic Percussion Trio are prominent figures on the international music scene: Guntars Freibergs, who graduated from Strasbourg, Brussels and Linz, is today one of the most influential Latvian percussionists, well known to the Lithuanian audience, Heigo Rosin is the first Estonian percussionist whose main field of activity is chamber music, having performed in such halls as the legendary Carnegie Hall in New York, Andrius Rekašius, a well-known contemporary music performer in Lithuania, began his career in the Palanga Wind Orchestra, and today is often heard in a variety of contemporary music projects.

The first "Vilnius Spring Festival The concert promises to leave not only a strong musical impression, but also an invitation to a meaningful cultural dialogue between the three Baltic states! This is a great opportunity to discover how modern percussion can speak about the sonic identity of our region.
