October 10 the documentary film festival "Nepatogus cinema" this year, the festival campaign starts with an invitation to play the game "WE|THEY". In dozens of establishments and cafes in Vilnius and Kaunas, the organizers invite visitors to play and think about how - perhaps completely unintentionally - we divide the world into our own and those of others.
Visitors to dozens of educational institutions and cafes in Vilnius and Kaunas will find the "Uncomfortable Cinema" game. Having received special sets of stickers with photos of famous politicians, characters or phenomena, visitors will have to decide which of them are "US" and which are "THEM" at campaign stands or on tables.
"This game does not claim anything in itself, it simply reflects reality - we put the world on "shelves" every day, often unconsciously. The game simply makes those decisions obvious and invites us to pause and doubt our choices," says Daiva Gylytė, head of communications at "Uncomfortable Cinema".
“Of course, each of us, for one reason or another, has found ourselves or will find ourselves on the side of “THEM”. Yesterday we were “too young”, maybe in ten years we will be “too old”, maybe because of our physical features, an unusual accent, maybe because of what we love, or even because of the simple style of dressing. But don’t we ourselves build walls between “WE” and “THEM” every day? We invite you to think about this,” says Gediminas Andriukaitis, director of “Uncomfortable Cinema”. Later, the assembled game boards will become installations in the festival spaces.
The "US|THEM" game will also move to social networks - on the "Uncomfortable Cinema" accounts, visitors will choose where to attribute one or another character or phenomenon every day for several weeks before the start of the festival.
