May 7-13 in six Lithuanian cities (Vilnius, Beautiful, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Telšiai and Anykščiai) the festival DESIGN WEEK will be held for the thirteenth time, emphasizing the importance of original ideas, insightful solutions and professional design every year.
Interpreting the theme of this year's festival – space- the participants of the festival prepared over 80 unique exhibitions and events, introducing the most current trends in the field of design, as well as the projects of designers, companies, and higher education institutions in the country.
In commemoration of the centenary of the restoration of the Lithuanian state, special attention is focused on Lithuanian design this year - during the festival, there will be more than one exhibition summarizing the best that was created in our country.
Also, the tendency to talk about eco-design and circular economy remains strong this year as well - together with the participants of the festival, we will invite you to pay attention to the environment around us and design solutions that preserve it.

Exhibition of the works of the winners of the GERAS DIZAINAS 2018 competition
May 7 The awards of the national competition "Good Design 2018" will be presented at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. From more than 200 works submitted to the competition, the international evaluation committee selected the thirty best. This year, participants could register works in ten competition categories covering various design fields: furniture and lighting, interior, interior elements, concept, costume design, publication, fashion accessories, product and industrial design, service and social design, visual identity.
After the award ceremony, a special exhibition of the winners' works will be open to visitors. in 2018 the exposition will be installed in the Lithuanian National Library of Martynas Mažvydas and will be open until June 11.
Retrospective exhibition "Lithuanian Design Prize "Good Design 2012-2017"
Lithuanian Design Forum, in cooperation with Domus Galerija, presents a retrospective exhibition of the works of the winners of the national competition "Good Design". After a short break, "Design Weekend" is being revived again this year, aiming to draw public attention to excessive consumption and inviting you to get acquainted with the "Zero Waste" philosophy of life. At the event, you will be able to take part in discussions, families will be waiting for a workshop of objects brought to a second life, a "pop-up" by Zero Waste designers, an apartment furnished from unnecessary materials left over from factories, organic snacks and even an intriguing proposal from the Demoroom household studio, as in the 555st century. you can get rid of the old paper! International exhibition "Reconsider Design"
At the Mykolas Žilinskas art gallery in Kaunas during the festival, 30 carefully selected eco-design projects will be exhibited, drawing attention to our daily habits and their impact on the environment, looking for solutions to reduce the negative impact of human activity on nature without losing the quality and unique properties of the products. The environmental impact of a product is heavily determined already at the design stage. But how could sustainability strategies be applied to products and services? The Reconsider Design exhibition promotes eco-design as a holistic creative approach and supports the education of medium and small businesses, designers, students and the public. Design and fashion of the 100th anniversary of restored Lithuania "Home Ideas Center NIC"
May 9 It will be held at the home ideas center "NIC" in Kaunas event, dedicated to the design and fashion of the 100th anniversary of restored Lithuania. During the event, all those present will be able to get acquainted with the origins of modern interior and fashion, be the first to see the collection of Aleksander Pogrebnajus created especially for this occasion, and meet the designer himself.
Also, for the first time in Kaunas, on the territory of "NIC" it will be possible to see the entire digitally reproduced digital print exhibition of the original dimensions of the wall paintings of the Pušelė sanatorium "Pušelė" by artists, winners of the National Prize Birutė Žilytė and Algirdas Steponavičius. These are not individual fragments of the work, but a continuous, authentic-sized wall with a total area of 110 square meters.
Exhibition "Applied art and design. 1918-2018"
The exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuania at the Museum of Applied Art and Design in Vilnius exhibits the work of the most famous representatives of applied art and designers of the last century, presents the activities of educational institutions that trained these specialists, as well as the production of art product companies that shaped public taste and the direction of household aesthetics.
The qualitative segments of applied art (textiles, ceramics, glass, metal, etc.) and design (furniture, graphic design) identified in the exhibition chronologically reflect the development of each area from the first steps of the restoration of the state to the present day. searches, the relationship between tradition and innovation.
